Next was a 25 that got a full make over At Magna Port and then sent to get plated

Been contemplating letting a few I don't shoot go down the road...These 2 might have to stick around.
Both of those trip my trigger, but that top one! oof!
Thanks Ted, I did not hesitate when I had a chance to grab the Jovino some years ago...that NY shop was very well known and I believe one of the oldest gun stores.
Nice!!
Yep it is a shame that the majority of the newer shooters are into the tactical stuff and don't appreciate the older gear like the JJ guns.

Of course Jovino's guns were actually the "tactical" guns for many of that era, especially in places that only allowed revolvers.

I am afraid if I owned either of those they would not look as pristine, as I know darn well I would carry them in the mountains. Any self-respecting bear or lion should be honored to get plugged by such a fine looking piece! Couple one of those in a Milt Sparks rig and you would have one seriously badazz looking setup!
Very nice!
very nice pieces for sure
I agree with the above, I carry a G43 and practice to stay sharp but I enjoy and shoot often my 66's, 27-2, 28-3 686's including the CS1 both 3" and 4", 25's and a couple of .44 mags with lighter loads purchased from a friend smile
Nice stuff Brother

Hank
My wife would love those.
She likes revolvers, and mild 45 loads.
The ones that buck and jump, but don't hurt.
Those are awesome!
The shame is, so many so called gun people, don't appreciate the quality of guns like that.
Thanks and agreed !

I like both of those!

My cartridge preference in a revolver too! smile

No offense meant here, but those pistolas are begging for nice sets of grips... grin
Absolutely fantastic guns! I'm with you on the .45 Colt.........I am blessed to own a S&W 25-7 and a 625 Mountain Gun in that wonderful old cartridge.

My reaction, precisely.

Same thought occurred to me.

Yeah but the Jovino was likely cut to the K round butt profile specifically to use the Pachmyer Compacs it wears. They were state of the art at the time.

Both very cool revolvers. I’m generally not a 45LC guy but I’d use the heck out of the blued one. Neat pieces of history.
Would love to see some of your special / favorite Revolvers…
I believe Mag Na Port did the same thing...Rounded the butt to accept those grips...I will check the build sheet....I know it was over one year before it was sent back to me though!

Big bore guy buys some cool rigs here, saw him at LGS to shoot a new acquisition.

Asked me if I wanted to see it, opened the case.

I smiled and said it looked like a JJ and he grinned big and
said yes it was, and that he didnt think anybody around here knew what the hell they were.

Sometimes its cool to be old
I have a Magnaport built 7.5" Redhawk that done in the mid 80s. The gun was featured in a 1987 Guns magazine article by its previous owner, as he used it for a hunting gun. It is a superbly accurate piece.

Playing favorites, in the N Frame department, it is tough, as I have a few that I really like. The first, is still in its original configuration. The only reason it is a favorite is that it was my first M29. (A 29-2) and I have had it since my early 20s and taken a fair bit of game with it, logged a lot of miles with it, and slept with it in my sleeping bag, or with me in my bedroll, or tent for many nights. It is far from pristine but I don't care, as it is an old friend and the 6.5" barrel is my favorite for when it comes to hunting with iron sights (versus all around use, which I prefer a 5" gun as an all around barrel length).

Here is my old 29-2 6.5"

My all-around favorite N Frame, and one I had built is my 5" 29-2. Built from an 8 & 3/8ths" gun I picked up in Montana during my travels, I sent it off to a custom smith and had him do his magic. The barrel was trimmed back, an DX interchangeable front sight installed, action job done and trigger serrations removed as well as the trigger being narrowed. It came out perfect (for me).

It is that one "Just Right" Model 29.
I shoulda kept my last 629.
It was a -3 in 6".
Still like a 4" though.
Hell i guess I need to find one of each LOL
This would probably be my coolest handgun. One of less than 150 2nd Model Hand Ejector Targets made, this one was born in 1932. [Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
Maybe Im just weird, but I think a Bowen K frame conversion to .256 win to be rather cool.

Dunno if Id drop the coin for one though, iirc 3500.
Some cool stuff right there !!
Keep it going …

Yes sir that Hand Ejector Target trips my trigger too. 😎
Makay’s 29-2 is very cool also. Guns with a little wear and stories to tell.
From the top 629-2, 629-3, 629 no dash...The top 2 get shot...The bottom one, not so much

24-3 and 18
Hookeye and Hawkl....Very nice !
Nice looking guns......Mackay is onto something about a 5" N frame. My 25-7 is just a good balance of length, and low recoil that it's a pleasure to shoot.

I found my 6.5" 29-2 this year! My grail gun! 1970 unfired in box with the supplies. Camo Pachmayer I added.
I have great hopes it will put 240gr XTP's over H110 into the spot I am looking at! Range work to commence in April.
Preparing to make lots of memories with it!

Mac, thanks for the pics and info you have shared with us regarding your quests with the .44 Magnums!

EDIT to add: EQFD that JJ is one special piece! Nice!

Oh YES! What caliber does the gun have. Did you buy it or is it a family heirloom?

It is a 44 special. I traded some big bore rifles I wouldn’t be needing when I left Alaska for it.

Boy Howdy, you ain't kidding, Mac. That Jovino is something else.
Thanks Greg !
I love those Jovino Specials! Anyone else remember the "Terminators"? A guy in a neighboring battalion at Fort Bragg had one in .45 Colt that he wanted to get rid of because "ammo was expensive". I told him if he saved his brass, I could reload for him. He didn't have any brass because he had never shot it. (He also seemed mystified by the concept of handloading; he seemed to think I was making it up.)

He also didn't like that it was an Astra, because he had never heard of them. I don't know how he ended up with it, but I thought it was a pretty slick piece and told him I'd be interested if he decided to get rid of it. Went to Haiti for a few weeks and checked with him when I got back:

He had traded it.

For a S&W Sigma.
I have never heard of the terminator sure but you are right the JJ handguns are very special !!
Two favorites "The Boys" a M29-2 and a M57 no dash. [Linked Image from i.postimg.cc] [Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
Two beauties GSP !
