I have a Ruger MKIV Lite and a Browning Buckmark with a Tactical Solutions barrel mounted with red dots. For me both shoot equally well with the Browning having the better trigger out of the box and the Ruger being slightly more reliable.
I replaced the rail on my MKIV with a
Madd Macs base to mount the RDS as low as possible. I can get a co-witness with the irons using the Crimson Trace RDS which is very helpful to me in acquiring the dot quickly.
I use the rail on my Buckmark which puts the dot higher and irons unusable unless the dot is removed
