I'm shopping for one. Want to mount a small red dot. Looking for a good trigger and threaded barrel. Ruger, Smith or browning maybe. What do you recommend?

I have a Ruger MKIV Lite and a Browning Buckmark with a Tactical Solutions barrel mounted with red dots. For me both shoot equally well with the Browning having the better trigger out of the box and the Ruger being slightly more reliable. I replaced the rail on my MKIV with a Madd Macs base to mount the RDS as low as possible. I can get a co-witness with the irons using the Crimson Trace RDS which is very helpful to me in acquiring the dot quickly. I use the rail on my Buckmark which puts the dot higher and irons unusable unless the dot is removed

How ‘bout this? It’s a .22, has a good trigger, and is threaded…..
What fresh Hell is this?

A Red Dot sight on a Marvel Unit 1 sure doesn’t give up much 50 yard precision when compared to a scope: Needs just a skosh more left windage adjustment, though. The Marvel is also available with a threaded muzzle.

I use the Swampfox on my Taurus TX comp and it has improved my shooting. I like the green circle reticle as I can see it better than red. The Taurus is accurate, has a good factory trigger is threaded and you can get a ton of accessories for it. My first Taurus and I am impressed.

Dogwater: I have several Ruger MK heavy barrel semi-auto 22's and several Browning heavy barrel BuckMark pistols fitted with the inexpensive (but work really well!) Tru-Glo "red-dot" sights. I have bonked Ground Squirrels with these set-ups out to 75 yards. Great fun this. Go with the Ruger MK heavy barrel line or one of the Browning BuckMark heavy barrels - add a red dot sight - thank me later. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
