I was in my local Cabela's (Noblesville, Indiana) store this week and cruised by the .22 ammo shelves, there was an employee there with a cart full of ammo busily stocking the shelves. I asked him if the shortage of .22 ammo has eased and he replied that they have been receiving plenty of .22 ammo. While Cabela's shelves had not been empty the selection had been kind of sparse. They now have quite a selection even several varieties of Eley, the new Browning ammo, Norma and others. Not just a few boxes, the shelves are blocked out pretty well stacked to capacity. Is this typical in other Cabela's stores around the country?
I was at the Christiana, DE location yesterday and there was quite an abundance as well. Same brands as mentioned plus some 100pks of Remington Golden Bullet.
Hopefully, that "abundance" will filter down to the online sources as well. I just had a hit on one of my in-stock notifications, but there was a one-brick limit. If I was out, I would have jumped, but $13 shipping is too rich for 500 rounds.

The best part is that the .22 speculators are about to find themselves sitting on a bunch of crappy bulk ammo that nobody will want.

Asses will be laughed off.

Those guys are trying to dump it at the local gunshows. I was at one yesterday and the going rate for bulk stuff was $29.00-$45.00 per brick, so prices are going down at the shows. Some idiots were still trying to get $55.00/brick and I just shook my head and proceeded to another table. Hopefully we start getting an abundance in the stores again and the hoarders and scalpers will be left eating all the ammo they bought.
I bought some nice Federal std vel Gold Medal Target for $40/brick this weekend. I thought that was fair, especially since it's more accurate than crappy bulk ammo.

Not too sure about this.

When the Hildabeast it in office $50 per brick ammo will be a bargain.

drover
Last Friday afternoon the BPS in Concord, NC had a stack of Federal Auto Match but that was all.
When Hillary gets in office we won't have guns to shoot our $50/brick ammo in.
To quote former VP Spiro Agnew you nattering nabobs of negativity have been spewing the same crap since the 1960's about how the politicians are going to grab our guns. It hasn't happened yet, all the commotion has done is to create panic buying, hoarding and price gouging. How has that helped our cause??????????? Whomever becomes POTUS will have lots bigger fish to fry than wasting time on any feared gun grabbing legislation. Jobs, the economy, illegal immigration, the muzzie problem to name just a few.

Really? Priced a 1919A6 lately? Evidently they've been turning the pot up on your azz really, really, slow, and it worked.

I was in the Christiana Cabela's store couple days ago and they still have lots of 22LR. And the only limit was how much $$$ I wanted to spend. cool
I was at Sportman's Warehouse on Sunday and they had 50 packs, 100 packs, and 500 packs of CCI and Winchester. They were not drawing any attention at all.

The market will have to be saturated at some point after years of hoarding ammunition and prices will plummet.

The November 8, 2016 results will be a big factor in prices going down.
Prices are still high in my area when the ammo is available. I was in a Big 5 sporting goods last week and they wanted $99.99 for a brick of 22 ammo that I had never heard of. I can still pick up an occasional box by checking stores.

$99.99 for a brick shocked .... Cabelas has a brick of Rem for $50
Big 5 is almost always the most expensive place in my neck of the woods.

When the put their stuff on sale, it's priced what other retailers normal prices are.

I only shop Big 5 if I'm really stuck.
The Cabela's in LaVista, NE, had three different styles of .22 LR ammo from Cascade today; standard velocity, HV, and super HV claiming 1,500 fps. It was all price the same, $65 per 500, but I've never shot any Cascade ammo and would probably pay a little more for Eley or Norma.
Jeff,

You might want to Google a few reviews of Cascade ammo.
I just assumed that, being Mexican, it was about the same as Aguila and I'm not a fan of Aguila.

I replied to your PM.
I've gotten pretty good results from Aguila, of several sorts.
I found Aguilia Rifle Match shot just as well, and to the same POI as RWS SSHPs. It's become very hard to find though and the price has gone from <$5.00 a box to about the same as the RWS when it is available.

The other Aguilas I've tried have performed about the same as other rounds in the same class; worth buying but not exceptional.
I picked up two bricks of federal 712 last weekend for $35 each... not the cheapest, but it seems to be a discount target ammo and worth a little more. They had rem golden hollow point 525 packs for $37.

Although there wasnt much on the shelf on a sunday afternoon...
Some years ago, I bought 5K rounds of Aguila 22 LR and sorted it by weight and rim thickness. After that exercise, I decided that I'd buy Eley and RWS for accuracy and whatever was cheap to plink. The Aguila that I had was plinking ammo, as is the Eley Club in the purple box that is made by Aguila. My standard, everyday, .22 LR ammo is Eley Target in the yellow box.
Several studies have found sorting .22 ammo by weight and rim thickness is a waste of time, including my own limited testing.

What really seems to matter is the other end of the round: consistent bullet diameter and alignment. Which is the same in centerfire ammunition--the front is the steering end.

The really meaningful test is to shoot different ammo and see how it groups.
I would say that my 4-way test indicated that there were small incremental improvements in the lower cost Aguila when sorted by rim thickness, by weight, and a second sort within rim thickness by weight. But I felt that the investment in time more than offset the value of the minimal gains, so I said "[bleep] it!" an decided that I'd just buy higher grade ammo, Eley and RWS, when I wanted to shoot good groups and inexpensive ammo when I just want to plink.

I did recently buy a Neil Waltz resizing die, but I haven't gotten around to using it yet.
If you haven't read it already, an article by C.E. Harris in the 1992 GUNS DIGEST might be of interest.

I bought a .22 resizer/hollow pointer tool off D-rock on RFC and was really impressed at the results. All ammo grouped better but some had very dramatic improvement.
Cabelas here in Glendale has had a good supply but it's all high end target ammo going for 100 dollars a brick😂
I passed on a brick of MiniMags the other day as I've got a bunch of stuff, some of it getting a little long in the tooth, that I need to shoot up, including a brick of the original Blazers I paid about $9 for and odd boxes of all sorts I bought while testing new guns. Once I get the "trash" taken out, I'll restock with the winners as I can.
I have had great luck with Aguila 22 ammo. I especially like the Super Maximum for shooting gopher and even prarie dogs. It is all but impossible to find though. It is far more accurate than CCI Stinger.

You ain't getting "High End" target ammo for $100 a brick. Maybe practice ammo.
I bought some Wolf Match extra that shoots as good as the $20+ stuff I have tried. It was $60 a brick when I bought it and about $90 now. The last lot was not as good as my cheap lot. But occasionally you can get amazingly good ammo for less than $10 a box.
My CZ 453 liked the Wolf pretty well, just not as well as the Aguila, which averaged in the .4s for 5 at 50. My current rifle hasn't done that well with anything so far, but I'm still lookin'.

The Wolf match is loaded by SK in Deutschland, I believe. You might give that a shot (accidental pun) if you can't find the Wolf.
