Is anyone (not counting Rigby or others that would require me selling my truck to purchase) making a bolt gun in 300 H&H?
I wish
Maybe ER Shaw. Check them out
I don't believe any common manufacturer does other than special runs, though I have never looked seriously into it.
If you're dead set on a brand new, standard manufacture rifle in .300 H&H, rebarreling and chambering any .532 bolt face long action Rem 700, Ruger 77 or Win 70 rifle wouldn't be too expensive, and certainly less than the ultra expensive Euro options.

D’Arcy Echols for 25% of a new pickup.

When that pickup is trash that rifle will still be working perfectly.
OTOH, the world is full of .300 Win Mags. For me, the only reason to take on an old timer with availability issues is because I stumbled onto a nice old rifle. Ballistically, there ain’t much difference, but there’s a considerable convenience gap.

Just a thought; don’t want to be a killjoy.

Buy a Remington 700 classic, sometimes unfurled rifles on GunBroker, two used rifles on there now.

I had a pre-64 300 H&H, sold it like a fool.

The voice of reason here... but I've gotta admit that an H&H would sure be cool.

Back in the day, I remember punching out a M-70 .300 H&H to Wby was a popular way to have a cheaper Wby Mag. Guess a bunch got that treatment. The Wby Mk V was always more expensive then the Winchester. Bet some of those guys now wish they’d left them original,

DF
The H&H is pure nostalgia and the rifle should be as well. Winchester 70 is about the only mass produced US maker of 300 H&H rifles. Excellent conditioned rifles in 1940-1960 makes exist. They will run in the $3,000 range.

The finest nostalgia 30 Mag and in my opinion done right is the 308 Norma Magnum. Fits easily on a std length .532 bolt action. If you were to build you could benefit from shorter case length, faster twist and use 200-225 grain high BC loads as well as all the lighter ones. The Norma will push 200 grain loads right up close to 3,000 fps with 24-inch barrel. Good brass is available through Norma.

A donor action would not be hard to find as any std Mag length will work. Just a simple rebarrel chambered in 308 Norma. It’s definitely a hand loaders proposition. Just a thought.
Take a 700 magnum long action and screw on a 24" SS 30-06 SPS bbl and have it rechambered to 300H&H. BTDT

An 89 year old gunsmith friend has a few rifles to sell that were never shot or taken afield. Six are Win. Pre 64’s and one is a .300 H&H that has been drilled and tapped, so collector value is out of the window. He removed the side mount but he still has it. He also has a Mauser 98 that he put together in .300 H&H.
He has two .308Normas a Mauser and a Sako AV that is out of this world. All are wood and steel. If interested, pm me. I can forward photos via text or email. Don’t have an imgur account and can’t post here.
Why not just buy a Pre-64 Winchester Model 70? They can be found for a reasonable price if you're patient.
No ballistic reason to want one. Just nostalgia and cool factor.
There are some Remington 721s that were chambered in 300 H&H.
Well if a person reloads the 300 H&H can match the factory ballistics of the 300 Win Mag and a little bit more. Mine is a low comb that I paid $600 for it 20 years ago. The stock is fairly rough, but man does it shoot. Cycles slicker then goose crap on ice. I have made some of my best shots with it, because it just fits me. A friend has a 721 in 300 H&H that you would have trouble prying out of his dead finger.
Browning made a run of 300 H&H a few years ago I believe.

Yup .... There was a fellow showing off a very nice Browning Safari in 300H&H last week on CGN.

Many of those 300s got the WBY treatment.
I think the nostalgia and cool factor comes more from the rifle, a lot more, and much less from the chambering. An Xbolt or Tikka in .300 H&H has not much more cool factor than either of them in 6.5 Koolaid.

And, that's reason enough for any half decent card carrying Loony.

GW- are you looking to adopt any adult children... 😇😂
Yep, GW not hurting for some real pretty toys. Never get tired of looking at his stuff. That boy’s having way too much fun.

DF
Alamo Precision will be glad to make you one.

My old 700 classic is over there now. Was factory barrel in a Bansner, will be Bart barrel and re-bedded into a Mc game warden. And re-bedded into the Bansner.......I may never switch the stocks but I CAN lol.

If it shoots near as well as the 300RUM they just built me it will be a hammer.

Can we get more pictures of the foot, asking for a friend.
Croc? Or soft restraint?

Asking for same nameless friend ...

Prayin' it's a soft restraint.
I understand new rifle or custom build, but man, it'd be tough to beat a pre-64 or old pre-salt Browning Safari with long extractor, i personally CGAFF about market value, mine are not for sale, good luck to you, H-4831 under either 200 or 220gr Partition will do it all for you to an easy 400+ yards in the game fields/mountains.

I have a Lyman receiver peep on one a pre-64 300 H&H, a little daylight over my 400 yard gong which is 18"x20" put the 220gr Partitions in a nice 6 inch rounded group well centered in the bottom one third of the gong, that's spine hold and dead animals all season long, with NO rear bag, just a front rest with rifle held in hand much like slumped over a pack, down tree or rock.

The whop reported back to me says the old Holland Super 30 is still packing serious freight at that range with the 220's leaving the rifle at 2750 fps.

Cooper.
I have had a few 300 H&H rifles. Found a classic Remington 700 years ago - sold it when I had Redneck rebarrel a Model 70 7mm STW into a 300 H&H. That rifle is the most accurate I own and has accounted for several nice elk and deer over the years ...

Then I found my perfect 300 H&H -- an early Sako L61R. That rifle is amazing -- light handy and feels good in the hands. I have yet to bloody it, but that will come sometime soon.

Still trying to figure out if I should sell my Model 70.

You're right. I did see a Shot Show X-Bolt 300H&H for sale here late last year. Not sure if it sold or not.
CZ 550 rifles had a run of 300 H&H some years ago.

OK Geedub, you can pull off the Camo crocs as long as you have that Randall! God but I'd love to kill a pig with that knife!

I move that the “Voice of reason “ be banished from here forthwith! It gets in the way of lots of fun ideas! As a handloader, one cartridge is about as easy as the next. For me, the enjoyment is worth the potential inconveniences. I do,however, often take a 30-06 along as a backup. Really, I’m now seeing the ‘06 as kind of a fun classic.

Browning x-bolt .300 H&H

Thanks
Mine is a m721 not much to look at but the first thing that hits you is that it's a damn big rifle. 26" original barrel with magnum contour and weight. It's a rifle for those who appreciate a full size rifle definetly not for the SBW and SAP crowd. It's size alone makes it easy to shoot well. Mb
If you aren't into nostalgia and just want to get that level of performance then buy a new model Winchester M70 in 300 wsm. I have one in Super Grade and it is very accurate and looks great. I am out of moose hunting now due to age but did help to kill my last moose in conjunction with my hunting buddy. Two shots at 300 yards put the moose down right there.

Jim
Winchester made a run of 1500 in 1989. About 6 or 7 of these went thru the shop. They were pushfeeds, blue/walnut, 24" barrels with sights. The classic style stocks were nicer than average wood. I kept one/ It's a decent shooter too.
One could always take a new(er) M70 30-06 and have it reworked into a 300H&H.
