Should be very nice to handle, carry and shoot! Very well thought out.
Posted By: hikerbum Re: Tikka Superlite 30-06 - 06/28/21
looks good, although more scope than most whitetail hunters ever need.
Posted By: HTDUCK Re: Tikka Superlite 30-06 - 06/28/21
Looks like the perfect all around rifle IMHO

IDK, I’ve been using 4-12X for years. My personal fav.

Thanks for the kind words.

Nice, that’ll work! Is there clearance between the objective bell and rail? Hard to tell.

ADDENDUM.

I’ve turned my scopeS up to 12x more than I’ve turned them down to 4x

LOL! Yeah there is 5 sheets of paper worth of clearance.

As far as the scope, everyone has an opinion and preference.

Does it shoot any better now than it did before you made all the changes?

Never shot it before I made the changes. I like it better after the changes so I guess that accounts for something. LOL Working on working up a load for it now.

That’s one sweet a$$ rifle! Hope it shoots as good as it looks!

The T3x stock is as good a factory stock that is out there as far as build quality and construction. That said I cannot stand the slickness of that stock and wish Sako would add some sort of textured finish .

What is the final weight on the rifle??

You should look at their new rough tech stocks. They are very nice, great texture. I just bought one in 308,and got my scope mounted. I will shoot it in the next couple of days.

That's at least 5 oz too much - as I waddle to the kitchen for another donut.

Seekins only makes 1 size in the 1” rings and they are .76”.

Beauty!! Handy dandy kill’n rig right there. Let us know what loads she likes best.
Posted By: Oakster Re: Tikka Superlite 30-06 - 07/10/21
How do you like the change in stock? Was it about weight, or style or feel? How much weight loss? I have a Tikka T3 Superlight .30-06 with the Mountain Tactical Bolt Shroud and Bottom metal, the stainless recoil lug and a scope and mounts I am good with. If I changed out the stock, I would have about the same thing.

Factory stock with a limbsaver recoil pad 1 lb. 14 oz.
McMillan Hunters Edge 1 lb. 8 oz.

I have McMillans on all my bolt action rifles. Just like the feel and build of them. I bought that one on here for a decent price. They are starting to get out of my price range though now. They haven’t been running many deals since they were bought out and prices have went up.

Gonna run some Barnes 130 gr. TTSX’s through it. Just waiting on one component which should be here next week.

LOL!

That Murphy Precision rail is probably close to 4 oz. heavier than a Mountain Tactical rail. The Murphy Precision has 3 pins and 5 mounting screws. It’s safe to say it’s not going anywhere. I have a brand new Mountain Tactical rail that was waiting to go on this one but at the last minute I found a killer deal on the Murphy. I know with a different scope mounting setup I can easily be in the 6 pound range but I like it just like it is.
Posted By: VaHillbilly Re: Tikka Superlite 30-06 - 07/10/21
Yeah your rifle is very light so if you ever want to lighten this rig up some more you can always go with a lighter scope/mounting system.....let us in on a range report. I like your choice of bullet 👍 and good luck .......Hb
Posted By: TrueGrit Re: Tikka Superlite 30-06 - 07/10/21
Nice rifle, I'd prefer Talley one piece scope mounts. I'm always using the scope as a carry handle.
Load development for a tikka means throwing a dart at load data table. They'll shoot pretty much anything...

Beautiful rifle to behold, but is the camouflaged stock just for looks or for a purpose, in light of the shiny bits on the receiver and barrel? Either way, well done!

That is a nice set up! I have mainly been carrying my 7mm-08 the last few years but I am partial to the 30-06.

I have a Compact T3x 7mm-08 that is very similar to this rifle as well.

Not sure what your powder charge is, but I bet she’ll tighten up with that first driving band in the neck.

Mine liked a Barnes jump.

54.2 grains of H4895.

So push it in until I hit the first band?
Posted By: Bearcat74 Re: Tikka Superlite 30-06 - 07/26/21

I had a Remington Ti 30-06 that shot best with the front band in the neck.

I was at 54.5grs H4895

Those TTSX like a pretty substantial jump. I was skeptical until I tried it with my finicky 7-08, but a .070 jump made a big difference for her.
