Can someone tell me. What about it is a Remington 700? Seems to me they changed everything that made it a Rem 700. And I'm sorry but those AG composite stocks are ugly AF.
people complained about the old remington ....now they make improvements and people complain about the new one
that ag stock looks pretty much like every other fiberglass stock to me they do make some other models that are pretty ugly so agree with that
I never had any issues with a Remington 700 and I've had a bunch of them. 19 to be exact. Never had an AD, never had a bolt handle fall off, accuracy was always acceptable.
Either I didn't understand or Spomer said that he did NOT like having the bolt to be able to cycle when on SAFE. To me, since I prefer an ADL type rifle, I like that feature as that's absolute safest way to unload the rifle and magazine; either way with a round in the chamber, having to put the rifle to FIRE to unload, seems less safe. Maybe he should ask them for a 3-way safety.
The complaint with Remington -- aside from the safety recall shenanigans -- had nothing to do with design. It was how they cheaped out on everything. The bluing at the end was comically bad. Fit and finish atrocious. The bolt jeweling might as well not have been there.
People would have paid the same $900 they do for a M70 FWT for a *nicely finished* M700 CDL... hell, they pay MORE for the old ones on GB as I type. Instead they got SPS 700, 770, 783, etc.
I was plenty happy with a 700, this one sounds like it has all the flatbill/Sitka gear options. Iâm pretty gunned up, but the flatbill crowd better hope itâs not too expensive, they need to save $$$ for tags đđť

With an ADL there is absolutely no need to run the rounds through the chamber to unload. To unload an ADL in the safest manner possible.....simply push the bolt forward until the round is picked up out of the magazine then retract the bolt and pull the "loose" round out with your fingers. A round NEVER needs to make it into the chamber.
wow I dont think anything would make some of you happy and you just like to bitch about things
Seems you're mad that someone doesn't like what you like? I'm not trying to be a diiick but...
First day on the internet?
The issue I have is this....the few complaints people had about the 700 the alpha model fails to address. They seem to have changed the entire rifle to where...it's not even a Remington 700 any longer. It may be an awesome rifle, but a 700 it is not.

This plus 10 as usual Ky221 is on the money all my 700's have their factory triggers and are maintained correctly. Never had a 700 AD, or a bolt handle that fell off and only 1 extractor replacement in thousands of rounds fired. I figure if you don't like the 700 go buy something else instead of bitching about it, that way there will be more for the rest of us...mb

Iâve had a few Rem 700âs and the only one that really has issues is the 300 WSM, and 700âs and WSMâs are k own to have issues. My .300 WM had feeding issues as I followed the book on case capacity it said 3 in the magazine (blind mag) and one in the chamber. It wouldnât feed for crap so I called Remington and they sent me all new internal mag parts, still no fix. Talked to someone that had an old wood stock ADL and they said mag capacity was 2, I went to 2 in the mag and never another issue. Maybe a typo in the manual, who knows. Oh the trigger on the 300 WSM also broke, so it got a new Timney.
no i have never been one to worry if people liked what i liked or not....
I just found it odd that all of the improvements they made which basically every aftermarket action costing a thousand dollars has today and the only thing you could find to like was the side bolt release....and the other guy critisized it because it didnt have a fieldcraft taper barrel on ...I didnt even hear what the taper was on the rifle....
anyway like what you like use what you want ......enjoy
The only .223 I found listed still had the 1/12 twist. Say it ain't so.
kwg
Who knows? I found a new Remington SPS listed on a website as a 1:9 twist .30-06, another website has It as a 1:10 twist, Iâm pretty sure itâs a 1:10 twist.
The gun looks good to me. I donât have a need or even want for one but nice gun none the less.
The flutes will make it a pass for some wanting to use a suppressor. Seekins done the same thing. Few of us will agree on barrel length but at least with a regular barrel it can be cut and threaded where you wish.

We share similar perspectives on this, though I assume they'll offer a couple of the more popular chamberings in multiple barrel lengths.
Has anyone seen anything on weight? Looks a little clunky in pics.
I thought the same thing. Contour of the bolt sleeve and handle seem to give that appearance. I do like the Oberndorf style bottom metal.
Forend looks awfully square and larger than needed as well.
Sure looks like a AG All Terrain or Sportsman from here.
The All Terrain has a cheekpiece and the Sportsman does not...so I'd guess it's a Sportsman. The listed weight, drop at comb/butt, and OAL are identical between the All Terrain and Sportsman according to AG's listed specs. With a low mounted scope I REALLY like the All Terrain.
The AG stocks are more square and deeper through the barrel channel than other brands but the radiused/rounded edges don't make it feel square in my hand.
I'm curious about the weight and if the action/barrel are stainless. Lots of good improvements.
JCM, you're right on all accounts. The rifle might have the appearance of being a little chunky but I'll bet it's a great handling rifle. With a modest scope, I'd assume it'll come in around 7.5#.

After looking at this more closely I don't know what people are complaining about. It looks like some past Remington issues were addressed. Other than I'd like to see a stainless version I can't see one thing yet I don't like. I'm sure a SS version will soon follow.

It's an interesting rifle. If they can't/won't do stainless, then maybe black nitride would work as well.

Why? It appears to be threaded already.
I think what he's saying is some would prefer to cut the barrel down to a different length and then thread it. Flutes make that tough.

THIS!!!^^^
It continues to boggle my mind rifle owners who do not know how to safely unload a blind box mag.
JB mentioned on another thread he has shot the Alpha 1 and will have a future article.
What I have been told: -The rifle weighs 7.5-8lbs bare -MSRP is $2000+
I like the effort of tighter specs throughout and a quality stock. Never had a problem with the factory bolt release, already know how to field strip a M700 bolt, like the idea of a âweldedâ bolt handle (thatâs what I was told anyway).
Now if RemArms can introduce something along the lines and quality of a 1st Gen Ti Mtn rifle (an SS action is fine by me) for less than $2000 I would be plenty interested.

At that rate, I believe I'd go the route of a win 70 extreme weather for less $.
The "regular" Big Green 7mm RemMag's will Smooch and stabilize .796 BC 180 ELD's,in OEM magfed guise. 8" will make 190 Beer Cans happy, along with their .838 BC. Hint...............
I see "longer mag box". Hopefully the 1:8 243 gets to 3.0"+. Also, someone will need a swift kick in the testicles if they 1:8'd the 223 then neutered it with a 2.26" box.
In a perfect world they'd skip any D&T by just milling 2-3 weaver/pic. slots on each bridge along with 20-30MOA worth of inclination. I'd greatly support ditching fasteners where/when possible. 8x40 is certainly superior to 6x48, but, no holes would be even better.
Elder Big Green 243's would Smooch, stabilize and feed 105 Hornie HPBT's in issued guise. None of which sucks. Hoping the throat geometry stays the same and 8" RPM with more COAL to grant 112 Smooches, would be nice...though I'd prefer a 243 Kreed. Hint.
In 223,the 8" REALLY needs to be 7" and there needs to be at least 2.500" COAL latitude, though I'd prefer 2.600",for land chasin'. An OEM 90 Beer Can Launcher, would be great in 223. Hint.
I'm with you on the mounting. Hint.................
I like the improvements here but this model is way too heavy for my taste, though I think Remarms is on the right track especially at this price point ( if that is indeed the right MSRP) I will be a buyer if and when they come out with a lighter model, an old school Mtn Rifle with these improvements would be My huckleberry.....Best of luck Big green!....Hb
