Big Brother-325WSM Kimber Montana, Leupold VXIII 2.5-8X36.
Little Brother-308Win Kimber Montana, Leupold FXII 6X36.
Finally received 'Little Brother' after a 6 week wait.
The FXII is my first fixed power scope in a very long time.
Seems to have very generous eye relief, however, I think the 'wide duplex' is gonna take some getting used to.
Now it is off to the range for load development!

Cute kids.
Thank you,
I am a very proud 'papa.'
Sweet Tim.Gonna be hard to tell the diff between them till recoil..My kinda rigs..The 325 cartridge is really growing on me.
Get your scope and mounts from Mr.Bin..
Yes, I did.
Bought the FX 6X36 and Talley's from Rick.
Fine service, as I have come to expect.
Congrats. They look great!
Tim... be still my beating heart.... DANG!!!
Very, very nice. What a pair. Now you have me looking at my gunsafe all screwy again. :-)

I think that's the cat's meow.....
TB-very nicely done, perhaps we should be planning an elk hunt....?
Well done!
Dober
...brings a tear to my eye... just beautiful.
I must say they do look the part even though I'm no longer a Kimber fan. Enjoy

Crud now I may have to get a matching pair to keep up with those guys in Idaho very nice. Let me know what load you come up with for the little sky.. I will be counting Kimbers in my dreams tonight grin!
Tim: Veddy nice!
I don't think anyone makes a better-looking factory rifle than Kimber. They have "curb appeal" for sure.
The gunstore I shop at has an upper-crust, walnut stocked 300 WSM...tempting little rifle.
You need some paint on those...
Sweet duo ya got there.
Scott
Thanks for the compliments, Fellas!(and ShootingLady)
I am looking forward to trying out the 'Little Brother.'
We shall see...
Brad won't let Dober touch his "lil Sky" maybe you can get Dober to put some paint on these...
Outstanding set. My Kimber Montana is in 7mm-08 Rem., and I absolutely love it. I also have other Kimbers (300 WSM Classic, for example).
Let us know how the .325 WSM does, as I am looking at that and at .338 Federal for my next rifle.
I am starting to think that the 308 case length & WSMs, Kimber is the way to go, and for the 30-06 length the pre-64, and for the 375 and such maybe kimber or possibly the pre-64 is the way to go.
I like the idea of NULA, but one of the gunshop owners in OK sold
his 7mm08 due to a piece of thread getting stuck in the extractor
stopping it's function.
Mauser type actions are my favorite.

Couple of things that have helped me out since I have gone to using the 6X Leupolds with heavy duplex
First thing, do some experimenting to find a target that works with the heavier crtosshairs- After you do that, you ca shoot some very good groups- not bench rest competition size, but more than adequate to assess a hunting rifle and its groups.
Secondly, even though that heavy duplex LOOKS as though it would cover the runways at O'hara International airport, it doesn't it only covers 1 minute of angle, which is more than enough precision for game.
Also, that wide duplex is a handy aid for shooting running game. If you swing on a running coyote with the horizontal cross hair on his body and the intersection of the heavy cross hair/light crosshair on his nose (or six inches in front if he is out past two hundred yards),it turns out to be very close to the correct amount of lead to dump the coyote.
I love the straight six power scopes with the heavy duplexes and have found them to be the ideal scope for the way I hunt. I have killed a coyote with it a long time after sunset (coyotes can legally be shot here after big game shooting hours), and have killed deer and antelope past 300 yards without being handicapped in the least.
Royce,
Thank you.
That is good advice, I look forward to getting familiar with that 6X!
Just in case you decide to paint it, this is one of the best looking Kimbers I've seen.
Picture stolen from here...hope the owner doesn't mind.

Clark,
That there is purdy!
I like the scope, too.
Maybe I will paint one of my Kimbers at some point?
Hate to say it, but I'm going to copy that rig, only with a Kimber Classic I bought recently and a Montana stock I picked up off of Gunbroker. I'll post pictures when done. Of course mine will be sporting a Leupold FX-III in 6x42 instead of the Swaro.
So it was YOU who bought that STOCK. *LOL*
Scott,
I may just give painting one of those babies a look see...
So it was YOU who bought that STOCK. *LOL*
Of course I wasn't the only one from here bidding on it. lol
Just in case you decide to paint it, this is one of the best looking Kimbers I've seen.
+1
So wonderfully simple. Sure is purty in an uber-utilitarian way. (just the way I like 'em)
Man I like the looks of that.
Looks like you have ever critter in ID covered with that pair! Those darn Kimbers keep me rethinking of building my 2 gun battery around a Ruger MKII action (already have the 'big' gun)...
Hows your new 308Win going 340boy? Any feeding or extracting issues & how do you rate the rifle in general?
Reason I'm asking. Might just give Kimber another go as I've always wanted a true U/L handy in the safe.

I have been running some dummy rounds through the magazine as fast as I can work the action, no feeding or extracting issues thus far, 340.
I will be going to the range today if the weather holds out!
I very much like the feel and fit of the rifle, so if it shoots well, it will be a keeper, for sure.
Man them brothers are killers.....You did good Tim!!
So how's it shoot? Huh? Huh?
