Big Brother-325WSM Kimber Montana, Leupold VXIII 2.5-8X36.

Little Brother-308Win Kimber Montana, Leupold FXII 6X36.

Finally received 'Little Brother' after a 6 week wait.
The FXII is my first fixed power scope in a very long time.
Seems to have very generous eye relief, however, I think the 'wide duplex' is gonna take some getting used to.

Now it is off to the range for load development!

Yes, I did.
Bought the FX 6X36 and Talley's from Rick.

Fine service, as I have come to expect.

I must say they do look the part even though I'm no longer a Kimber fan. Enjoy

Tim: Veddy nice! smile I don't think anyone makes a better-looking factory rifle than Kimber. They have "curb appeal" for sure.

The gunstore I shop at has an upper-crust, walnut stocked 300 WSM...tempting little rifle.

Outstanding set. My Kimber Montana is in 7mm-08 Rem., and I absolutely love it. I also have other Kimbers (300 WSM Classic, for example).

Let us know how the .325 WSM does, as I am looking at that and at .338 Federal for my next rifle.

I am starting to think that the 308 case length & WSMs, Kimber is the way to go, and for the 30-06 length the pre-64, and for the 375 and such maybe kimber or possibly the pre-64 is the way to go.

I like the idea of NULA, but one of the gunshop owners in OK sold
his 7mm08 due to a piece of thread getting stuck in the extractor
stopping it's function.

Mauser type actions are my favorite.

Couple of things that have helped me out since I have gone to using the 6X Leupolds with heavy duplex
First thing, do some experimenting to find a target that works with the heavier crtosshairs- After you do that, you ca shoot some very good groups- not bench rest competition size, but more than adequate to assess a hunting rifle and its groups.
Secondly, even though that heavy duplex LOOKS as though it would cover the runways at O'hara International airport, it doesn't it only covers 1 minute of angle, which is more than enough precision for game.
Also, that wide duplex is a handy aid for shooting running game. If you swing on a running coyote with the horizontal cross hair on his body and the intersection of the heavy cross hair/light crosshair on his nose (or six inches in front if he is out past two hundred yards),it turns out to be very close to the correct amount of lead to dump the coyote.
I love the straight six power scopes with the heavy duplexes and have found them to be the ideal scope for the way I hunt. I have killed a coyote with it a long time after sunset (coyotes can legally be shot here after big game shooting hours), and have killed deer and antelope past 300 yards without being handicapped in the least.
