Another vote for Leupold, a 6x with the LR reticle, if I could have only one. Always been good stuff, still are. Have several of the FX3's that have proven themselves reliable and repeatable. Got some old M8's that need to go into my will, they'll never wear out.
IF what I want was made a 4x long tube like an older Leupold M8 with at least 4" eye relief, available in gloss and matte finish, and heavy duplex, post and duplex, or a real #4 reticle.
Same one I picked 40+ years ago...2X7 Leupold std duplex. I have quite a few others and several other 2X7 but still using the original and expect it to be still going when I have to quit!
Leupold 3-9×40. Been using them since 1973 or so. Never a hiccup. Every time I buy a new rifle I automatically order a new leupy 3-9×40. I've never had the slightest problem. Ymmv.
The reason that I would love the March is the variable 2.5x-25x range with ED quality glass. It is a little expensive, but that wasn't mentioned by the OP. I have several Zeiss 3x9s that I really like and a few 2.5X8 Leupolds that are very good scopes.
If I can pick anything then something from Nightforce. If it has to be something I can afford then a Leupold 3X.
Just arrived from Leupold today. They have new-at least to me-packaging and different scope markings. The other ones I have also say Big Bore. This one doesn't. Perhaps it is because they are only going to make the 3x until the existing parts supply are gone.

Leupold 2.5x8 with #4 Reticle. Like the one mounted on my "if I could only have one rifle" LH Rem KS in .270 Win. that shoots "if I could only have one bullet" 130gr NPT's and NAB's...
My initial impulse is to say Leupold 3-9x40mm but I bought a Leupold 4-12x40mm last year and I like it so well that I would probably get another 4-12 instead.
You're both gluttons for punishment....prepare for the oncoming Leupold hatred.
I'll stoke that fire. I've owned just about all of them and while some of them are really awesome, none of them are worth $100 more than my Leupolds, much less $1000.
If I'm stuck with just one scope, I'm going full custom.
I'd spend millions and build a sub 13oz 30mm tube FX-3 6x42 with SWFA internals, SWFA elevation knob (zero stop!!!), low profile windage, rear adj. paralax and the Milquad reticle.
Or, I might just stick with a 6x MQ, save the millions and hold the fluff.....
Vortex Razor HD AMG 6-24x50, my most recent and most favorite addition. Not my top choice for hunting rigs, but I could easily make it work. I shoot way more at steel than meat, so if I could only have one....
Waiting to get that exact scope back from leupold right now. Internal fogging. The last two I've sent in for the same issue, they have replaced with new scopes. We'll see what they do with this one, as they've had it for three weeks now.
I'd like the M8's better if the windage tracked better. Makes sighting in a very frustrating experience.

It’s really a toss up for me between a Swaro Z3 3-10x42 and the new Leupold VX3i 3.5-10x40. I like the 42mm objective but the eye relief on those new Leupold s is something else.
I just hunt with my rifles, targets are just practice and load development.
I can’t even settle on “the” one scope per each particular rifle.
The 42mm objective March scopes are said to suffer from a finicky eyebox. This is understandable given the design. It’s always a give and take. Even a 25x optic with a 56mm objective suffers compromised low light performance.

A Corvette is said to be slower than a Geo Metro? If it is in your price range, check it out first.

If I were to try one it’d likely be their FFP 52mm objective model. I’m a fan of open center/ floating dot reticles. March’s FML-1 reticle suffers from a heavy 0.1 MIL center dot. I don’t get the FML-T1. It appears as a peculiar hodgepodge of compromises. In this price range the Kahles with Finn Accuracy’s MSR2 reticle has my almost complete attention. The 10 oz weight penalty is a small price to pay in this class scope. For reference, a Kahles displaced a Tangent Theta on my Ryan Pierce built 28N.
I recognize that you're talking an almost entirely different animal with a 30mm tubed, SFP, 42mm objective.
It looks like the Leupold 2.5-8 gets a lot of love here. We got ours around 1990, both went on moderate weight ( 9 pound) magnum rifles ( one on a .375 AI, the other on a .338 WM). Both worked flawlessly until they were replaced with a little higher power scopes (3.5-10). The 2.5-8’s, reside in QD base/rings...zero’d and ready for service! memtb

I've yet to see a 2.5-8x Reupold track or hold zero and have been around piles of 'em. The 3.5-10x,is routinely superior...but PALES to a 6x MQ Fixed Fhuqker, whether 1" or ANY of the 390mm version(s). BT/DT and have all the T-shirts.
I can’t vouch as to there ability to track....as in adjust turrets for a shot, and then return. We merely zero’d, and rarely had to re-adjust, said zero! With our new (to us) 3.5-10’s.....they appear to track well. Of course, we don’t turn the turrets much.....as most of our shots ar3 inside 400 yards. memtb
Hey guy, I've asked why you posted that. What is your reason? Did you get a bad one or have you even used one?
Butch, I’m not familiar with March, aside from seeing a few on PRS competition rifles. What do you like about March? What attributes do you see them having that make them a good choice for a hunting optic? 😎

You poor ignorant incredibly stupid fuuck...... the fail to perform in sub zero temps too!!!! Haha
Notice the dumb tape and big stupid turrets..... tuck your boo boo lip back in and pretend you’ve killed something besides a July Sitka buck or kelp fed bear.... haha
Hey guy, I've asked why you posted that. What is your reason? Did you get a bad one or have you even used one?
Guy??? haha Well, the name is gay for starters.....
I guess I would expect a response like that from you, "GUY". March was started to build a scope eliminating POI shift with superior optics. If you are familiar with lenses, you will recognize the ED glass. Engineers assemble the scopes, not assembly line folks. I don't know of anybody else that makes a 10 time variable. 2.5X x 25X for example. They are expensive, but that was not stated that it mattered in the OP's post. I have used a 45X March in competition and have shot other peoples rifles with various models of the March. That is my choice of scopes and I don't believe I jumped anybody's AZZ for using something else.

I can.(grin)
I've bought over 100 Reupolds through the years, have shot 100's on top of that and their elder version(s),trump new. The 2.5-8x's were once "mainstays" of sorts, due both their aesthetics and mass...but I've simply never seen 'em be worth a fhuqk, upon any platform, for any application. I tended to drive the 6x42 as a Utilitarian default and sadly, they too are now pieces of schit.
A scope's SOLE purpose is to steer bullets and Reupold is an easy pass,in this day and age.......................
You evidently don't shoot much or accurate enough rifles to know it. Do a little research, GUY.
Butch, aside from your “piss’n match” with Jud. I asked above for information you seem to know first hand about March Scopes”. I’ve been using Leupold VX6 scopes on several big fur rifles. Switched over a couple to Bushnell LRHSi scopes and another to a NF SHV. What is your knowledge or actual experience with March as a rugged scope like NightForce?
If you only have bench experience, I understand. Looking for experience with how they perform over time with magnum rifles and hunting situation where both rifle and scope can get knocked around. Thanks again...😎
My LRHSi,never lasted the first shot...aboard my Heavy 6BR. It "tracked" like a Mad Woman, going to take a schit.
Top.
It WAS funny though!
Took a coupla months(no thang,as I have a "few" scopes) and the LTRSi replacement actually fhuqking works. I prefer it's reticle too,but dat's subjective.
You’re not the first to bitch about the LRHSi having issues, especially the newer made scopes. The older LRHS scope still has a good reputation for reliability. Schit happens in large companies where they decide the individuals they hired to improve a scope line and increase market share are no longer worth paying the big bucks too...Pink slipped and down the road the talent goes. Then bean counters in purchasing take over and shop internal parts out to lowest bidder without regard to the original specifications developed to build an excellent scope...Wash-Rinse-Repeat. 😎
Are March Scopes just a boutique scope? I got to see and shoot behind a Kahles k525i...This scope was beyond impressive in every way, albeit above my pay grade. Grin!
Seems like a fairly small market to try to find reviews on the March scopes on this forum. Doubt more than a couple guys own them on here and that is a pretty small sampling to make a decision on. Check the interweb review sites for your particular choice and you'll have a better chance of getting a more rounded feedback sample.
Good example, a Facebook hunting page I get on the page owner gets freebies from scope companies for advertising their wares. So, he gets some high dollar scope (pretty sure it was a Nightforce but can't recall exactly what model), and he goes out and shoots it at 100 yards and then at steel at 500 yards. Tells everyone what a great scope it was because he could shoot a 1" group at 100 yards and hit an 18" gong at 500... so I asked him if he did a box test or a tall paper target test? Well, no..... but this is a great scope, I'm sure it will do fine.... Almost lost my credentials on that site that day, but for several other people who felt the same way so they shut down the discussion instead....
Same thing happens here. A guy shouting " I shot a deer with my (fill in the blank) so it must be the best (cartridge, rifle, bullet, gunsmith, etc...) ever made. If you really want to know and not blame someone if it doesn't measure up to what "someone else" told you- sometimes you just have to spend your money and take your chances. Then you can do like Big Stick and say- "this is the biggest POS I've ever owned" or.... " I can throw it in a river and take it out and it still keeps ticking".....
I'm rather at ease,in calling thangs as they is...and can prolly extrapolate like wares of the ilk, from a few different Makers............................(grin)
It appears this forum is more about, well if you don't like this scope, go phuque yourself. A few folks have shot a variety of scopes and can give a good evaluation other saying that you are an AZZ for loving this one. Oh Well, I have better things to do, like beating a dog.
What’s the loss/gain between a SWFA SS 3-15x42 or their SS 5-20x50 HD? Aside from power increase. Is the “HD” improvement in clarity worth the additional $500? $1300 puts me in the NF arena. Both NF and SWFA are almost as bullet proof as you can get with reasonable money...😎

Thanks, Bob...Makes sense. Not enough ownership here yet to speak with knowledge and experience. Appreciate the information. 😎

Don’t beat your dog. I’m sure he thinks your scopes are just dandy...I was only asking for information it appeared you had experience with on a March. Nothing more. 😎

🎣. I will some day pay for picking on the less fortunate!😂 but for now sugar tits. I’m just going to keep enjoying myself. To add to your deep burning desire to have it all. 😂
PS how’s the diet going? if I can extend the offer you extended to me once, I will buy your fat ass the first week of meals. 😘😂😂😂😂😁 Itid be nice to see your tiara fit once again.
Sugar tits! You just keep trying, for that I’m impressed! I’m going to check in and see if the special Olympics has a shooting team you could easily be the captain.
Krytox is a plum handy lubricant, for metal to metal surfaces and slickified the 317's guts, rather exceptionally. Have seen it weather the weather and it do a nice job,of staying where one wishes. It weare a rather GOOD tip, from The Springer World.
Have used it on everything from HW 97K Tune-ups,to Pistole Innards,to Centerfire locking lug lubricant and it dazzles everywhere. Now you can say you've "seen" it!
You need a 55gal drum of Do Nothing Sauce,to baste your "efforts".
The only thing you’ve hooked...is yourself. I’d liken it akin to Shefire grabbing herself by her kchunt and crying “foul”,then calling for help. Hint.
Word through The Grape Vine is a Anschutz 54 1913 SuperMatch. I reckon yet another Bob extended 1913 rail(pun intended)...’Horn rings and 10x MQ for THE win. At least you’ll be able to say you’ve “seen” one,as you feverishly try to keep pace with the Splendid Pixels.
Sugar tits how is it you live in the middle of nowhere and still found yourself in a neighborhood with not a place to shoot. Load development happens opening the slider here. LOL. Poor retarded sugar tits.

Oh [bleep] I just spit vodka and cranberry on my phone.
Ohfûck 17( billion trillion) acres and you couldn’t afford a spread with a range. 😀. Please do tell! It’s got to be joyous living in a neighborhood.
Really can’t make this up! the legendary sugar tits, king of LR ain’t got a 100 in the back40. .
Keep pretending ya seem to have mastered it. 😂🎣 Post a picture of the boat salvage yard you are cultivating. Oh [bleep] it’s to early to be laughing this hard.
To be fair Sugar tits I have to drag my couch all the way across my driveway to get the 100 the slider only afford s 60. 😉. Don’t let the cat get your tongue princess you are doing great. Hint
PS it’s juds week to have the camera! We went halfzies. 😎. ever feel like someone just might be having a little fun at your expense. 😘 sure glad Rick let you loose. Lmfao.
Pardon the Splendid Pixels, which have no equal. Start a Thread,if/when you can afford your first camera. Until, simply poke my pics in "your" album and plagiarize as you must.
Simply use your imagination and it's Pretend,in the manner you MUST,to satiate your Reality...then keep waxing eloquent upon your incredibly long list of exceedingly WELL founded Insecurities.
A haybale and Crockett forked horn for ya..... now you can say you’ve done it too!!! Ping pong ballad for the win!!!! Haha how many vaults are there in fallout 4
It’s been fun verbally beating on you again Kerri, I mean larry.... flying up to Williams lake BC in the am couch shopping, see you around Little buddy
Oh sweet Jesus! you really do have a great view of them HV lines. 🤣 sugar tits you are living the dream.
all that Real estate and your broken down fat ass could not spring for a place that has a hundred. Hint!!
So I will ask clearly so you can squirm and not answer!! Is it fact you live in a neighborhood in the great wilderness and haven’t a range to shoot, on sight. Oh you poor worthless cull it’s no wonder things work out so well for you.
Samuel,to me you’re a rich sumbitch!!!! Never judged a man on how much $$ they made or what they “have”, but on they’re character.... I envy you brother...

Jud, watcha doing in Williams Lake, hunting? I drove through there a couple weeks ago, first time in awhile, that is some great country.
Pickin up my old tundra, broke her up there back in early October... dealing with insurance in another country is a pain in the ass. Takin the commander and gonna do a little site seeing on the way home...
88 in a 70 will generally get you pulled over every time...
Had my wife's Exploder up to triple digits more than once, briefly.... Always afraid a fricken tire is gonna blow!
I will admit to not spending much money on 'toys' lately. Getting old and focused on work related items I guess. More cows, a tractor, tools, last week was a fancy $4k insulated stock tank for a new waterline project. Ya know, chit that makes the tax man happy!
Love me the green lawn tractors....
Harry, the dingo and a full size coyote would be a good fight. The dog is all muscle but he's only about 45 lbs....
It's never been difficult to cypher, who shoots and who don't.

BINGO!.........................
Even easier to see who snakes away from questions and lies to boot. Poor retarded sugar tits can’t shoot at his house 😂. Alaska the last frontier and his trailer trash dna landed him in a neighborhood. Oh it’s priceless. How many of the neighbors are registered sex offenders sugar tits. 😂
Ya use the big stupid thing for a fish bat, jack handle all kinds of useless things!!! Love being limited to 6x too!!! Oh that’s right, you shoot at train car sized targets at 1400 yards!!! Haha they sport great glass as well!!!! Haha

34 sticks of bologna.... Not even the North Pole has enough peppermint stick air freshener to dignify what’s coming to the toilets in Santa’s Workshop.
I’am very happy with any of these scopes sitting atop my rifles... Leupold VX3i, VX5 HD, or VX6...Love a 3-18x44 fine dup reticle NF...Any of them, but partial to those with a 50mm SWFA SS fixed or 3-15x42, 5-20x50 hd Oops...Forgot the Bushy LRHSi and 6500 Elite (not made anymore) but a dang nice scope IME. No particular order...Whichever has a good price. 😎
I've recently had two 3 -12 x 42 S&B's Follow me home.........
However for the price, I am very impressed with this 4.5 x 14 Meopta MeoPro

Nikon Black X-1000, 4-16 X-MOA w/ Illuminated reticle.

GWB, How in the Holy Trinity do you get several S&B’s to follow you home??? I look upon them, new and used, and I feel my wallet Scream! Dang, I just look at your scopes and rifles and pretend they’re mine. Grin! 😎
