I lapped the barrel so it feels pretty slick.
I think lapped barrels shoot better and clean easier.
Lock is pretty difficult to cock. The main spring is like a bear trap, the sparks drop forward of the pan, so I’ll probably send the lock for a tune. I had the shorter Pedersoli Jaeger before and it had a similar flint crushing geometry. I hear this is common.
I just bought one (from Midway) I plan to use for Pennsylvania Flintlock Deer season - anyone have recommended loads/bullets? Can use ball/patch, bullets, sabots etc...
Thanks any other advice would be appreciate - this will be first rifle I've used since my TC Hawken flintlock I've used for 40 years...
