Thanks 79S. My buddy is the one who actually has the tag this year and we are flying out later today. I am just going to back him up but am still excited. I have been to the same area twice in the past 10 years and each time got a nice boar. Hoping we will find a monster boar for my buddy!!

I really miss Kodiak and bear hunting. The best hunt of my life was a solo Kodiak bear hunt where I didn't even see a bear. The fog was so thick that I could hear one swatting salmon out of a stream and hear it crunching into them, but could not see it.

I would imagine your weather isn't much different from ours today. I did all my deer hunting on Afognak for 20yrs, didn't start on Kodiak until I started bear hunting and guiding on the SW end. The weather doesn't keep you campbound as much on Afognak!

They got some hunters out earlier heard the planes leaving.. but been pretty quiet. So on standby waiting for the call..

Man, I've been in your shoes too many times, and I don't envy you right now. If you can't get out within the next hour or so, I'd say you may as well just hit the brewery, and hope for tomorrow. I'll be down there next Friday, and really hoping not to have to spend the night in town. Good luck, and have safe travels/hunt!

Well rest of flights were axed pilots came and said they were not going to fly in this weather. So we are now backed up big time.. tomorrow another day..

I once waited 13 days to get out of Kodiak on the way home...

May I ask what a kodiak bear hunt costs? I highly highly doubt I'd ever be able to afford it but for dreams sake I'd like to know.

For a resident we have to buy a $25 tag...

I'd guess about $25k or more for the really good guides.

That would be a hell of an experience. It would suck to get eaten after paying $25 g’s though

Hey just got back in.. they pulled us out early due to the lake we were on potentially freezing up tomorrow night.. Anyhow bear should square close to 9 feet.. the skull measured 24 5/16. We roughed measured the skull and came up a with a bigger number lol. But kodiak fish and game are the experts on measuring.. when I get home will write up a story..

One of the funniest things on Kodiak one evening while navigating back to the boat... a woman in a second story window asking for 10 bucks to show her 38DD tits to us...
The agreed-upon fiver was slowly wafting into a rain puddle when we had to jump aside to keep from getting hit by a couple long tatas!

I had a business in local town for years. I knew a number of local cops & many of them parked across the street from my business. They would often stop by for a minute after work & BS. The funniest story lines that would pop up were accidental discharges, or "titty stories". MAYBE i SHOULD WRITE A BOOK.
