Finished off the Wensleydale my friend left so I opened a pack of Kerrygold Dubliner that I picked up last time I was in town.

Another winner.

Winco had a couple of other Kerrygold cheeses so I'll pick some up when I get a chance.

I'd like to try their Cheddar..... hope they have it

https://www.kerrygoldusa.com/products/dubliner-cheese/

I've been trying to gain some weight so I've been having crackers and cheese every afternoon.

Haven't gained a pound but I'm digging the different cheeses.
I like the dubliner too.

Keep an eye out for the old croc cheddar. It's not bad.
Will do....thanks.
Been a Dubliner fan for about a decade. Every month Ill check out Costco for their special in store rebates on cheeses not advertised. You actually have to be in the store. Its how I try different cheeses.

Heres one I found yesterday. I break into it in a few more days when all the triple cream brie is gone.

Whatcha drinkin' with the C & C Charlie ?

My wife comes home with the best cheese and crackers. I'm lacking in her tastes frown Plus I'm a cheap fugger.

Usually water Denny......to early in the day for beer or wine.

That looks good Fats......or at least their add guy makes it sound good...let us know.
Wine pairing with cheese.

Is there a rule of thumb for red or white with certain cheeses ?

Pinkey extended of course.
There is a science about cheese and wine....thats for sure.
Good on you Charlie. Those Irish cheeses are pretty good. Wife and I like a good Stilton too.

Funny, I was just thinking this morning about starting a cheese thread up in the zoo. See who's like me, I eat cheese most every day, any kind just about. Gotta have it around. Cream cheese, mozzarella, cheddar, jack, peccorino Romano, and for me the PBR of cheese.....Jarlsberg from Costco.

One thing I miss here is that even with all the good Ag items we can get at the farmers' market, there's no dairy or cheese making outfits nearby. And we have excellent bottomlands they grow beef on that look perfect for a dairy. We have a number of goat operations here too, but not dairy goats. I loves me some chèvre.

Enjoy your cheese and crackers this afternoon friend.

By the way, what crackers are you enjoying lately?

Geno
I tried a new cheese last night.

A snack size Fontina cheese from Bel-something or other.

It was good.
I eat cheese and crackers every day too. My grandmother says it’s good for little boys and I don’t feel like outgrowing it just yet.

I like most every kind of cheese but for ease of access with the little mom and pop grocery we have here I generally stick to cheddar or pepper jack for the after work cheese and cracker sessions. I’ll slice up about 2” off the block, about 2” off the stick of Bridgeford pepperoni, and a big handful of cracked pepper trisquits. Glass of tea or a cold beer and my 3 year old helper on my lap sharing with me. Pretty good stuff

Mostly Club or Ritz Geno

I'm not ready to become a cracker snob just yet but I'm working my way up to it.
I like Club.

The Whole Wheat Club is good too.
On the shelf right now.

As for wine I drink reds with everything. I'm partial to Old Vine Zins as they are vintage local. Not to mention Three Buck Chuck.
Nice assortment, Fats. Will check Krogers tomorrow.

Yep......I'll be keeping an eye out too.

Thanks Fats.

I'll hold off on the wine for awhile though......my brain can't handle too much kowledge all at once.
Coastal Cheddar is now on the approved list for future purchases if at the right price. Very crumbly though when cold. Snappy flavor but not overly done. Easier to find and taste the calcium crystals when its been warmed up to room temp.

Easily one of my favorites now. I'm a cheese slut though.

Funny you should say that.......the majority of cheese's I looked at on the net recommended Red......including Dubliner

I went to a wine and cheese tasting long ago.

One of those wine at home pyramid schemes.

It was really fascinating how each cheese paired with each wine.

Even someone as white trash as me could appreciate it.

It sounds ghey as hell....but a person should try it once.
laugh
I doubt that I'll ever attend a tasting Jim but I'm learning thanks to the google machine.
Yep.

Lots to learn.

I prefer Tillamook products myself....but will try Kerrygold cheddar on the recommendation from you guys.

Its for sale here...but being Irish cheese I figured it had booze in it somewhere.

I dont care for booze cheese.
Fun thread, Jim. I'll be lurking in the cheese aisle of Kroger after I pay the county for the privilege of being a landowner.

No hunting license needed. YAY grin
Funny you should say that.....Kerrygold also makes Dubliner with Stout. Ha

https://www.kerrygoldusa.com/products/dubliner-with-irish-stout-cheese/

I like Tillamook too.......especially their Sharp Cheddar.
Tillamook a national brand ?

Kroger near me has it.

Added to list.

Thanks Charlie & Jim
Made in OR.....I'm not sure you can get it in the east.

A university that has a dairy program usually has a retail outlet.

One can vet really good cheeses and ice cream.
Two that I've purchased from.

Cougar Gold is in most of the stores in the LC Valley. (Cougar Country)

IIRC they sell big blocks of Butter every now and again too.
That Cougar Gold is tasty cheddar!

Fuggin A Squadcar!

Life is too gawtdang short to be eating cheap cheese.
We have some great cheeses here in WV but usually extra sharp means sharp , sharp is med./ mild,..................

????????
As we age our sense of taste is lessened.....
Hafta call my ol' F buddy Peg and test that out.

Closer ta the bone the sweeter the meat. grin
Tillamook sharp cheddar was great !

We used to get good cheese from a local op at the Carson City farmers market but that guy stopped showing up one day. Went to the home brew store yesterday and stood in front of the cheese making products fridge wondering if it is something I should take up....lots of dairies 30 miles to my east...
Got some great cheese from an Amish lady at a local flea market, made by an Amish community in Ohio. She had several varieties, I tried one called butter cheese, mild and creamy great in omlets and as hot ham and cheese. Will try her cheddar nest time.
