Triggers for Rem 700's. lets say in the 1.5# range.
Seems like many prefer the TT over the Tim. But I've never read why. The TT is a bit more cash in that weight range, why one over the other?
When the pulls go to ounces, I've had good results with Jewell, so just wondering about the above.
Triggertech. Less creep, easier to adjust for weight, more reliable.
Yes this^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That Jordan guy is a dick. He's the azzhole that got me hooked on TT.....

Hah, I appreciate the kind words, Don.
Try a TriggerTech Special and then go try a Timney. You'll understand why once you feel it. To me, the TT has more feedback of a crisp "click" than Timney, Shilen, Rifle Basix or Jewell.
Had a Trigger Tech Special stop resetting trigger after 20 shots. The folks who built the rifle said they had seen that issue with the Trigger Tech Special several times. Contacted TT and they were less than helpful on resolving an issue with the new trigger. Bought a Timney and moved on. Do have a TT Primary that is working still. Probably just my bad luck, but I will say that TT was not high on after the sale customer service on that particular day. Just saying none of them are probably perfect. I could see trying a Diamond out on an appropriate rifle.
I’ve got them all, Triggertech all the way!
I have TT primary and Timney. Like both, but prefer the former, and is what I’ll buy in future.

Something must’ve been really off that day. I’ve dealt with TT customer service due to problems with sear engagement on a poorly timed Remington bolt (I’m guessing this is similar to the issue you had), and they went above and beyond to try and resolve my problems. They replaced a Primary with a Special, then when that didn’t work they custom ground a sear to try and work with the poorly timed bolt, and finally, they followed up a year later to see if the trigger issues went away after having the bolt re-timed (they did). Very impressive CS, IME.
You bet. I'd probably not drop one in a factory rig, but those rigs are all top end. Why cut costs on a rig like those?
Jordan, It was on my Vudoo 22. I certainly didn't get the type service you got. Obviously my experience was a one off based on the other experiences posted. No big deal. And I am happy with Timney so will stick with them.
Sorry you got the short end of the stick on CS, but you're right, it does seem to be an anomaly.

You mean the wrong-handed walmart clearance 223 don't deserve a good trigger?....grin
The first thing my right-handed Walmart clearance 223 got, and deserved, was a TT Primary! Figured a $79 dollar rifle left me plenty of room for a $165 trigger. YMMV!

Exactly this.
I prefer TriggerTech for all of the above listed reasons. The only issue I ever had was on my old GAP Tempest and it just required a taller trigger hanger and it was happy
Wow! nearly everyone agreeing on one brand. That's huge for the Fire. Sounds like TT is the way to go.
Thanks for the replies.
Jordan Smith talked me into the trigger tech cult on 24HCF.
https://patents.justia.com/assignee/trigger-techI finally killed something, a mule doe, with a trigger tech trigger on Oct 24 2020
But seriously folks, anything better than a Timney is wasted on me.
I shot a 0.1" 3 shot group at 50 yards with a 1917 Sav 99 takedown with 6mmBR bull barrel with the 12 pound original trigger.
Don't overlook the Bix n' Andy Dakota or TacSport.
I have two rifles with Triggertech triggers in them. They work okay, I've yet to have any issues with them.

See...now you know something is wrong.

LOL, like what? Everybody recommending TT is getting a kickback from the manufacturer for every sale?

What's the barrel contour & length on this? Looks like something I've got in mind.

That rebarreled 250 Sav is a 1995 Rem700 short action. The goal was light weight. It has a 20" barrel, carbon fiber bipod, and light fill rear bag..... 8 pounds 3 ounces without ammo. The Gold coin in the bolt handle does add some weight.
1) The 250 sav is a Rem 700, Lilja 10" twist 3g, trigger tech trigger, PTG bolt, PTG recoil lug, Talley rings with bases, SWFA ultralight BCD scope

Man, that is a humongous bolt handle but whatever floats yer' boat of course!
John
John, I replaced that handle. I make a lot of handles.
My relatives from Sweden pronounce Johnny as "yawnny".

Yep, I now answer to "John" , "Yon", "Yawn" and "Yawnny"!
My masters' students coming from Germany initially have a hard time with the informality at Swedish universities, and are not comfortable calling me "John" at first.
I keep correcting them, but at least initially, I am "Professor Herr Doktor" until they loosen up!
John
TT Primary for the price compared to a Timney all day. I also like Shilens in that price range.
TT Special/Diamond price range, I'll go with a Bix N Andy all day long.
that is a humongous bolt handle
check out THIS bad boy.....
What can you do with a Remington XP-100 center-grip?
What can you do with a Remington XP-100 center-grip?
I think the XP uses the same trigger as the Model Seven.
When the pull weights go to ounces, $200 Jewells haven't given me a reason to buy another brand in that weight range for more money.
But the TT special, given the go by all members here will be my next purchase in the 1-3.5# range. 20% off helps make the choice as well.
Damn black Friday anyway.
I notice TT has a model Seven specific trigger. I thought Sevens used the same trigger as a 700?

Believe the bolt release is slightly different
I recently put a Timney CE 2-stage on a 700. I like it better than my TTs. Much better price too.
Interesting how mileage can vary. I’ve owned and used several CEs on Rem 700s, and I’ll take the TT Special over the CE every time.

Holy hell, you got a rifle for $80?

Yep.
I've had several CE's and couldn't agree more.
The Diamond kicks the Jewels ass as well for durability alone.
Damn Canucks anyways....
The Jewel is nice but you have to keep them clean

Would rather sell my 700 than Fhuqk it up with a 2 stage.
Never had a problem with Jewell single stage

That's correct - the safety is slightly different as well.

Any 2 stagers?

I am really enjoying this 2 stage trigger. I have it set at 8 oz and 16 oz

I've not owned any 2-stage CE or TT triggers, though I've played with one or two a bit. I'm not much of a 2-stage guy.
I had been waiting most of the year for the Black Friday sale. I got one coming. The challenge is which rifle gets the new trigger. You guys cost me money!
The TT camo ball cap was the diff between success and failure....grin
If you had used a Timney, that deer wouldn't be covered with blood😉
