Ok i am going to look at at several 99's tomorrow, the seller says what he are model T he says there is 22 HP, 303, 300 savage so which of these are really $$$$$? any one that are insane money, he is throwing $8-900 a copy at me for the price?
Will someone be kind enough to post a picture of a T?
condition , condition , condition at those prices. if all are equal in my mind the 22hp first, 303 second and 300 last.
others will chime in.
sounds like if there's a 22HP model T You should buy it, at all cost!
I would put the 300 next, just because it's a more desirable hunter.
303 T's aren't exactly dime a dozen...
so all model T, have the curved lever?
Yep pistol grip, the forend checkering and shape are important as well
A 99T in 22HP is a bit of a unicorn. They were made, but very very few are known of. 303's are also hard to find.
I'd drive a long way to have a chance at a 99T in 22HP. Bring back pics.
I love shooting this T in 303. Lots of fun!
My suspicion is these will be takedowns and that is what the guys means by T but we shall see.
Fireball a 303?
I thought u never would never see.......
Owning a 303!

If I drove somewhere to see a 99T in 22HP and he pulled out a normal 1899H/99F in 22HP.. I'd be crying.
Good luck!
Savage 99Ts in 22HP are as rare as rocking horse poop
Fireball a 303?

Owning a 303!
I evolve.
But I won't do Marlins, that's where I draw the line. No Marlins.
LOL
99T in 22HP? Dang, I would be tempted.

External hammer. click click.
Definitely go for the 22hp T!!!!
Is that a true to model butt stock on this model 93?
What a magnificent Marlin!
And I will bet U dollars to do nuts
If ol fireball seen a free to good home JM stamped 1899/99 he would be
" doing it!"
Years ago back in the early 90s and before I discovered Murrays book I came across an odd looking 99 in 30-30 in decent shape at a small gun show in northern California. A buddy of mine who is a Model 70 guy said "you don't want that one. You want a 99 in 300." I couldn't argue with that logic as the 300 is the "classic" but now I know that rifle with the odd looking forearm was a T. Oh well, what are you going to do.

Marlins don't bother me. Not at all. As a matter of fact I have long lusted after a 93 or early 1894 with solid case colors. And finding the former in 32-40 certainly would be something!
Same story here S99VG. Was at the Cal Expo gun show, probably around 2004? ,and saw this on a table. Wasnt really sure of which model it was, but had started buying Savages, and it caught my eye. My buddy with me, who thought he knew everything about guns, talked me out of buying it. He stated,'those are everywhere'. Came home and asked the knowledgable people on here, and they pointed me in the right direction. Went the next morning and grabbed it up!

Drove a ways to see a "military garand". No pics, talked with the seller. Got there and it was a Swiss 1911 rifle. Nice one so I bought it. Also a Kbar fighting knife & sheath. Supposedly his fathers bring backs from the Philippines. And a Remington Model 6 to top it off. Not bad for a wasted trip.
I had a table at a show one time and saw a different looking 99, I ended up buying it for 450-500 bucks it had a Lyman Alaska in a sitih set up on it. Ended up it was a RT, it lives at Loggahs now without the stith and scope!
I was at a show one time and saw a different looking 99. Bought it and turned out to be one of the Rentzke engraved guns.
There were a few forum members at the show who passed on the gun that day, took a chance and was lucky.

Glad you corrected your mistake. My loss was at the Yuba City gun show. That show usually has one or two interesting items. The CalExpo show used to be enormous when I drove down from Chico in the 90s. Little did I know then that it would have deflated so much and that I would be living about five miles away two decades later.
Good lord that's funny!
That model 93 posted photo is mine!
Oooops.

yeah! i was just trying to lead Roy to the finer things in life besides savages.
Oregonians are not the fine stock
Us spud 🥔 eating....
Marlin luvin.....
Idahoans R!
Takes a bit of sophistication to understand the intracacies of managing a moving hammer!
Almost like calculus
Well as expected the "T" the owner described they were all takedown rifles, and I know nothing and don't even wanna learn about takedowns. Saga of the 99T is closed.
Hard rubber buttplate - 1899H. Steel buttplate, probably a late 1899H or 99F. That's 99% of your 22HP takedowns.
Savages, Marlins, etc. are all cool
but 1903 Springfields
will take you to school.
Of Winchester 70
there is no remedy,
but Colts and Stevens
will make you drool.
Anyone ever talk about Mossberg like that?
Was there ever and ode to Noble?
I’ll leave out Iver Johnson on account of the Skeeter
And H & R on account of the Garand
And High Standard on account of a boat load of 22 pistols
There was a young man out in Oregon
who fired his Savage gun again.
The bear it was missed
(maybe hit in the wrist)
and truly was pissed,
and swore he would make Roy
into gelatin.
Anyone ever talk about Mossberg like that?
Not very often, I fear.
Of hardware store guns that abound
Not many appear to astound.
Mossberg is one
(which is sad 'cause they're fun)
But there's many a clunker
to be found.
Friends, dont let friends buy Mossy's

I wouldn't mind finding a nice old Mossberg Model L Martini single shot.

This ^^^^^
I saw a REALLY cool Mossberg 22 today. Had a crescent buttplate and looked alot like an early Savage 22.
You have had that for years.
Just bought a mossburg 12 ga rifled barrel.
When asked if a Mossberg 500 makes a good home defense gun I reply "do you want to rely on an economy piece to defend your life and the lives of loved ones, or do you want the very best that money can buy?"

Good point. I'm going to bet my life on a bargain gun. I guess it depends on how much one values their life. Hope it doesn't jam if it's ever needed for it's intended purpose!
I have a friend that has a 3 barrel shotgun he won at a Sportsman Bash. That should work. He was actually shooting clay birds with it, and did well.

gonna put it on a 870?
I picked up a 720 12-gauge for 175 a couple years ago that cleaned real nice for purposes of defending home and hearth. Should that ever happen. It came with a cut down 20-inch barrel. Not the highest in modern shotgun tech but a well proven design.
I actually got that t model from Ron Shumacher, he used to be set up right in front of the entrance at Yuba city show, lotsa guns! Him and his helpers were always drunk as skunks! Bought alot from him, nice guy!
I usually had tables there too.
