It's an EG, a shooter at $599.00 On the used racks, not the library. I don't have the 250 itch anymore. It was there yesterday around noon.

Great snag! I load 87gr Hot Cores in mine. They do a number on deer. One to a customer. As Dad said "This gun doesn't go "bang". It goes "meat"!

That's criminal! Very nice shape! Every once in a while Cabelas gives someone a good deal. Coincidentally, my last Cabela's deal was an EG in 308, but a little gray on bottom, otherwise nice. $420. Hell ya.

The discussion in the V edition of Sierra's manual says Charles Newton wanted his cartridge to be for deer sized game with a 100 gr bullet at 2800 fps.

Marketing won out to reach the 'magical' 3000 fps which was unheard of in that day.

Thus the bullet weight was reduced to 87 grains!

They said the small bullet was adequate for deer and antelope if the shots were placed precisely.

All were 1 in 14 up through 1959. 250-3000 is just as good for deer and other medium game as is a 243.
