Game Zone 2
Limit 5 antlered deer for all seasons combined.
Gun Hunts: Oct. 11 - Jan. 1, Limit: 2 per day, 10 deer total
Still have 4 doe tags and 1 buck left. So i can limit out but its going to take hitting the woods weekday AM's.
The big 8 point took up a lot of freezer room, too. Might have to hit Lowes and get another flip top.
Shot one cowhorn in early November - he is in the freezer as burger. Been chasing a nice buck for the last week, but going to take a few does soon whether I get the buck or not (need a little sausage for the freezer next).
Shot a nice bodied 6 pt on opening day weighed 170# dressed. Ky is a one buck state so that's probably it this year as the farm I hunted is a zone 2 bucks only. I get a chance to go out a day during the late ML season and pickup a doe. We'll see.
2011 DEER KILL
1 spike Halloween am / F 150 door
1 8 pt Opening Day 2 1/2 yr old 130lbs
1 doe in rain, 11-21
Have 2 Full Weeks left.
1 3pt mulie
1 4x5 raghorn elk
1 doe antelope
I wish I could get more deer tags locally
Early November 1 doe.
Last Sunday 1 spike.
Heading out in 10 minutes to add something else to the freezer. No huge rush though. Between the pile of salmon and the couple deer already put away, it's time for a bigger freezer. Got till new years to fill 2 more tags. Might even try a late season Mt. Goat for fun.
#1 Nice Antelope buck - 7MM/08
#2 Cow Elk - 338/06
#3 4X4 Whitetail buck - 7MM/08
#4 6X5 Mule Deer buck w/ 27" spread - 7MM/08
#5 6 Ducks - 12 gauge. After plucking these ducks, I have officially ended my duck hunting career
A doe with a bow in mid October.
A doe 11-11-11 with a TC Omega.
A 13 pointer on 11-14-11 with TC Omega.
A 6 pointer 11-17-11 with TC Omega.
Got one buck tag and one doe tag plus all the bonus doe tags I want to buy.
Well, lemme see......
If I count Zimbabwe last summer, I got a cow cape buffalo, and a tuskless elephant under my belt....
...
All BS aside, this has been the worst deer season I've had in over 2 decades. 3 weeks before the gun season opened, I lost the place I had hunted on, for over 30 yrs. Scrambled to find some other places, and shot a big doe, opening weekend. But between the moon, wind, and warm weather, that's been it. ML season opened yesterday, and we should have some cold weather moving in, by tomorrow. Maybe things will pick up.
maddog
WT doe left handed from a tree stand; also got a scope cut on the bridge of my nose
WT buck shot in the middle of mule country where we saw no mule deer
WT doe shot in gale force winds in SW Alberta. trees were coming down but you could not hear them fall because of the wind.Hunted in the leeward areas.
MD doe at -20C -4F for the good folks in the US
That's all the tags I had for the regular season; ends Nov 30. too much work and no freezer room to pursue deer in the ML / slug season.
If you count all year 2 Axis buck and an Armenian ram on the university graduation trip this may in Texas.
Best wishes to all. GRF
Deer hunting slow for me this year in TX. 3 pigs so far. All with .270 130/SST.

Aside from the one in the first picture, I shot the last 6 deer all within a week and a half from each other.
Just 2 for me so far.....been a real weird slow year
The weather, moon, wind and food sources have all thrown a wrench in things in which anybody from Indiana will tell you.
I have a 5 deer quota this year (implemented by my wife
) so I still have work to do.
My first....a 7 pt with my .358 wssm.
My second.....also a 7, would've been an 8 but he busted a brow tine..taken with same rifle.
Shot one cowhorn in early November - he is in the freezer as burger. Been chasing a nice buck for the last week, but going to take a few does soon whether I get the buck or not (need a little sausage for the freezer next).
What is a cow horn?
Nothing in Wyoming 1 doe in Michigan
Must be a local term (like "baskethead") that I have heard/used all my deer hunting days. A "cowhorn" is a young buck with a big spike or small curving antlers. Here is the one I referred to in my post.
Days a lotta blood....
*grin*

Actually a .308 WIN, but I use Hornady 165 grain Interlock's - probably much more bullet weight than needed, but I own 400+ of them I accumulated during my .300 WIN MAG days - just using them up (slowly) in handloads. Yep, rub that corn in and they will jump up and run!
Ps. Those 165 grain bullets shoot right at MOA in that cantankerous M88, 150's are all over the place in that gun at 2 - 3 MOA.
600 pound rag horn 5x5 bull elk - model seven 300 saum, 180 accubond. About 80 yards, drt. (his tenderloins were mighty tasty this evening)
10pt whitetail - model seven 350 rem mag, 200 core lokt. 35 yards. Ran about 50 yards
4 whitetail does in one afternoon - model seven 300 saum, 180 accubond. All but one drt; one ran about 40 yards. 70 to 275 yards
Not all deer but all this year.
#1 WY Antelope 9/24
#2 WY Elk 9/26
#3 WY Mtn. Goat 9/28
#4 Home place WT 11/12
Love the chance to post these pictures
Tried to fill my IL WT tag yesterday but no luck.
Just one so far, decent 10 pt whitetail with the new 7-08 M70 Fwt. Still got 2 doe tags, but will only have 2 days left to hunt during regular season. There will be a week of doe hunting in January, we'll see.
Got a few tree rats & two coyotes.
One doe with ML on Oct 15. Been dry for rifle season so far and running out of time!
Hey Odessa! What caliber is that 88? Nice gun.
August billy in Alaska.
Once-in-a-lifetime Idaho billy in September.
October Idaho 4X3 whitetail buck
October Idaho Cow elk
All with a .270 150 grn.
Wife took a dandy Idaho 5X3 whitetail buck last week--same rifle; freezer is packed.

Thanks for the explanation! I had never heard that before.
One through three taken with X-Bolt 308 using 150gr SSTs over 47gr of Varget;
1. "doe" that turned out to be a button buck, not proud of the misidentification.
2. Doe at 100 yds ran in a 40 foot circle almost back to spot she was shot at. Never saw one do that before.
3. 11 point buck at 96yds. He made about 40 yds before giving it up.
4. A mature doe right at 200 yds, my longest shot ever at a WT deer. Rifle is a Kimber Montana in 257 Roberts loaded with 110gr Accubonds over 46gr RL 19. First blood for the Kimber and I love that little rig!
5. I'm done with the deer, but there's pigs, yotes and lots of skunks that need thining out.
Nothing in the big game category this year unfortunately.
21 Roosters
14 Geese
8 ducks
Never fails...after passing on a dozen different little bucks, and unable to get a shot at three "keepers" (One of which taunted me by standing broadside 150 yards on the wrong side of the fence) it came down to the last afternoon of the season...
Doe, a deer...a female deer, ra, a drop of golden sun....
Hey Odessa! What caliber is that 88? Nice gun.
Thanks, it's a .308 WIN, made in 1963 (but has an early post-64 basketweave style stock - don't know if it came that way or if the original was replaced, bought it used in the mid-1990's).
I am up to two does this season. We still have eight weeks of seaon to go and I am off work for a week starting tomorrow.
Started off the season with an average WY antelope buck at 250 yds in October.
A week later shot the smallest button buck I've ever seen with my bow at 52 yards.
A week after that shot a spike buck with my muzzleloader.
On the fifth day of our gun season in November I shot a buck with a really impressive left antler and a really unimpressive right antler. Used my Belgium Browning BAR 30-06.
Saturday I shot a button buck with my 7mm mag.
I can still shoot a couple more does with my muzzleloader plus a couple of bucks and unlimited does with my bow. It ain't over yet!
1-8pointer Nov 6th with bow, 17-1/2" inside spread, 9" g-2's
2-doe Nov 6th with bow, went looking for my buck and walked right up on her
3-9 pointer Nov 19th openening day of rifle in N.Y. state, one shot, destroyed the heart, 7mm SAUM shooting handloaded 139gr Hornady spire point flat bases. complete penetration and nice holes in and out....
No bucks for me yet, but I have been slaying "excess" does!
My daughter got an 8pt with the 7x57

That's true. Think how much you could hunt if you didn't make those 4600 posts.

I still have to have a job to pay for all that hunting and fishing. That way I spend all my time at work posting on the campfire...something I learned from Ingwe...
I think I been Zinged!!!
Actually Shrapnel...tell him the truth...as far as hunting/fishing goes, those pics depict a pretty "lite" year for you....
Sorry, I thought you was already in bed...
Ouch......
Saturday is rabbits, anyone want to go???
Oh geez...I wuv wabbits...

Saturday is rabbits, anyone want to go???
Bit of a drive, but i'm coming.
It may take you an extra day to get here, but I plan on going again on Monday. You get here and I will take you to my secret spot...
I wish I could buddy. Maybe someday.
Nice little basket horn 6 point
Would have been illegal in Texas.
Why would it be illegal to shoot this deer in Texas?
Willowcreek, because some of the counties in east and central Texas have the stupid special antler restrictions. Bucks either have to have atleast one unbranched antler on an inside spread of 13" or greater.
Hard to tell a kid no when its their first chance for a buck and the nice little 8 pointer is only 12-12 1/2".
Luckily I hunt in two counties 45 minutes apart one has the restrictions and the other doesn't any buck is legal.
I understand deer management and all but I think a kid should be exempt atleast for their first deer.
Anyway my count so far is,
160 lbs Russian boar with a 223 Rem
3 point 105 lbs WT spike with a 250 Savage
2-110 lbs WT does with a 223 Rem
6 point 140 lbs WT buck with a 223 Rem
Add in my boys ages 10 and 7
9 point 152 lbs WT buck .357 Mag Carbine 10 year old son
105 lbs WT spike with a 223 Rem 7 year old son
7 critters 7 bullets so far more to come...
Just came in from my last deer hunt of the 2011 season, just the one whitetail that was pictured above several posts back. Going to duck hunt a swamp in the morning and go bird hunting on Monday (hope to find a few wild covey's on a state gameland that is dedicated to upland bird production). Then it is off to Arkansas on the 12th of JAN for some flooded timber mallard hunting. Back home for swan, then switch to rabbits in late JAN/ early FEB. Lots of good hunting still to come.
I added another muzzleloader deer Saturday still hunting style.
Started early w/ a fat soy-fed doe during our antlerless-private land-only season in September. Shot her w/ my Ruger Redhawk 44 mag.
Then on the second Friday of our late muzzle loader season I shot a dink buck w/ my new (to me) .45 cal in-line.
This past Saturday I was out for our late antlerless-private land-only season hunting w/ my AR and due to the ubber-high mounted scope shot a hole in my blind & blew over a small tree 10 ft in front of me. In spite of the good penetration of the 55 gr Hornady Spire Point, that doe out at 100 yds or so was as safe as at home in bed...
oh well... 2 deer is pretty good, and should keep me and my 5 kids well fed.
Our government has given up on managing deer, they are more into selling licences in recent years. Our deer population took a big hit from winterkill last year, but the government is still selling antlerless whitetail tags throughout the southern area of the province, along with an either - sex tag. Our seasons should be restricted for a few years, not two tags for every hunter! I hunted whitetails a few days this year, but passed up the survivors that I saw. I already had an elk, moose, bear, and a couple of mule deer in the freezer, couldn't see any good reason to add a scarce whitetail to the pile.
I only shot one nice doe, she gave me 58 lbs of meat packaged. I was only looking for nice bucks after that and didn't see any thing worthwhile after that. I hunt a relatively small piece of land so I don't want to shoot too many deer until I figure out the true size of thr resident herd. Outside of that I been making a good dent in the squirrel and raccoon population as of late. The land owner leaves for the winter and has issues with them getting into his out buildings and tearing them up so he appreciates the off season 22 work.
