Thinking of trying 180gr. XTP in my .35 Whelen for whitetail, due to shoulder surgery I need a reduced recoil load. As a start I tried 15gr. of Unique, accuracy at 100 yds. was good with 5 shot groups at 1"-1 1/4". Has anyone used the XTP bullet in .35 Whelen to take
whitetail deer?
What about loading down the 200gr FTX..?

I haven't used them personally in my 35W or 350RM, but I was at the range a few years back when a fellow shooter was running them in his 35W and I was quite surprised at the accuracy at 100yds. He was getting submoa out of that particular rig. I have no idea how they'd work at that MV, but I can't see a 180 anything not wrecking a whitetail.
I've used plenty in my 357 max but haven't tried them in my 356/358w yet. You might look at 1680...not sure how it does for that bigger case, though you can't get enough in a max case to go over pressure. I have run some 200-225gr accubonds at very mild (2200) velocities, and they're light kicking, to me. I've run those 180xtp pills at 2300+ in my max, and it's light kicking and quiet in a sub 6# (16.25") rig
