I'm a sucker for those dark antlers....
289 meters, 6 Creedmoor, 105gr Hybrid.
Thats the ticket!!! Nice buck congrats!
Congratulations on one heck of big muley !!! ...........I will say, you sure do know how to take a great picture as well.
Another great muley buck. Congrats.
Out in one trip....
Not over the hill yet....;)
You must have a huge house man. I’ve never seen one guy with so many wallhanger sized critters. Nice buck for sure.
Great buck Pat...
He looks eerily similar to my CO buck this year....
I love my Wyoming saw too...
Daaaaang...
I saw two bucks bigger than him in 2017, watched them for hours. Chip shot.
Private land, no permission. It was still a treat.
P
Fantastic Buck. Chokalat horns ROCK !
Who is the OLD man in the pic ?
Jerry
Congrats on yet another great looking animal Pat, I'd love to hear more details about the hunt...and yes, very cool dark antlers, what a bonus!
Congratulations Pat. Another terrific buck.
Heck of a deal! Good job.
I think we would all be suckers for those dark antlers. That's a beautiful buck. Congrats!
Oh yeah...a nice buck with dark antlers! Very nice.

You're beginning to get the hang of it.
Another great buck - congrats!
Is that Kuiu, Sitka, or First Lite camo you're wearing? I want some.
Outstanding work as per your usual. Beautiful!
This stuff NEVER gets old!
Yeah, it breaks up the mid winter hum-drum of everyone snipping at each other....;)
I am definitely living/hunting in the wrong state another beauty from the Big Sky!
Great buck! Kitty-corner forks make it interesting.
Jason
Wow. Beautiful buck. Congrats!
Congrats! That's a hell of a buck.

Yep, two pretty good tools right there....
1. Awesome Mulie
2. Gotta get me some of that kinda camo
3. But the IN says that 6mm boolits bounce off of big mule deer like that
Congratulations that is a nice buck.
Looks bigger than 28"..............terrific buck, Pat (as usual).

Trick photography....;)
As luck would have it, a few days later I saw a true monster. 9X7, also dark, bladed points and matching drop tines. Stood there with a handful of does for about three minutes at 200 meters.
I hope he survives this nasty winter we're having.

That was the first and only time I saw him. When my pal George came out, we looked for him for a few days, until we ran into the buck he shot. That buck he took went 191". The 9X7 is quite bit bigger.

The Taylor boys! Damn, I miss Ridge. He was a good schit....
Shoulda known with the sleeping Indian garb.... couple legends
Yeah, I miss him too...........best hunter I've ever seen.
But you're about the only guy I know of that consistently kills the quality of animals that he did............that was a great bull you killed with a bow.

We met at the Sheep Show in Reno, back in 88'....man, did we crush it!!
Broke the mold after him....
Yep, we did a lot of shows together besides hunting..........I was doing gunsmith work at the time & he sent a lot my way. Died way before his time. He was probably my closest friend for the 15 years or so before he died.
I stay in touch with Cash occasionally..........he's in ID Falls, not hunting much.
MM
Nice deer!
How'd the Hybrid do on terminal performance?
Nice deer!
How'd the Hybrid do on terminal performance?
Took out both lungs, he ran about 100 feet, and tipped over. Bullet completely penetrated, leaving about a 3/4" exit.
That's the exit....
Somehow, it mysteriously didn't disintegrate on impact...(sarcasm)
I remember the brothers with Larry Barr and a huge, maybe state record buck they guided him to in a sleeping indian advertisement years ago, back when magazines were cool. Grin
Couple great guys died around the same time from cape buffalo, Bob Fontana also comes to mind. Shiity deal for sure....
Entry...left side.

Yep, that Barr buck is an absolute monster. I don't think it's the Idaho state record, but it's close...
If I have my pics straight, & they might not be, this is the Barr buck. IIRC, it is Idaho #2 or 3.
I applied for that late season tag where he killed it for 20 years straight & never drew it; applied for a Shiras tag in WY & drew on the 1st try..........go figure.
I think that some that RT killed were bigger but never got entered....................
MM
Another great buck, congrats for developing the skill and keeping in shape to get it done.

That's Larry Barr, but not his big one. The one we're talking about is a big typical. Thanks for posting that buck it's a hammer too!
Never met Barr; got lots more pics from that time frame............lots of massive deer taken from around '85 - '95'ish.
Then the poacher's, 'cats & some bad winters knocked hell out of the deer.
MM
Here ya go Montana man, this is the buck scenar and I are talking about that ridge and cash guided him to, boneville county Idaho. What a hammer
Wow, what a buck. Never get tired of looking at big mule deer.

Yep, that's the one...
This is the Idaho State Record. I took this picture in the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, Wyoming back in 1994. I don't know if it's still there or not..net score is over 215".

Me too Johnny, pissed I missed “the glory days” of buck huntin....

What a dandy!! I was there in 93’, my senior year after graduation, cool place
Thanks................I don't have that pic of Barr's buck. Looks bigger than the pic of the #1 that SC posted.
Barr killed that buck in '95 late season, special draw tag, in Swan Valley...............that tag was golden at that time but only if there was snow. I was never able to draw it.
RT had a couple of heads in his house that likely would have been book heads had they been entered.
MM
Actually, I do have a different pic of Barr's buck but with Cash & the deer.......................didn't have it ID'd as Barr's deer.
You can identify it by the slightly curved out tines on both sides, on the main beam on the left in the pic & on the rear fork on the right in the pic.
MM
Oh ya thanks for sharin!! Feel free to post more muleys pics!! Never get sick of em
My 2017 Montana Muley. Couple of brow cheaters behind the ears. Looks puny compared to the Barr Buck, but it was a good stalk.
My Dad's still hunting hard at 80.
Beanland/Definance .260/120g GMX
Sinclair Leather Sling made the difference. (Thanks Pat)

Thanks for those kind words!
Cherish that photo! It doesn't get better than that...very cool! Keep taking him!
Back in 91' a couple pals and I were on our way to SW Wyoming to hunt antelope in the Red Desert, and we stopped in Jackson, for lunch, and found a little taxidermy shop across the street from the cafe. This rack was laying on a table in there. It was pretty nice....
No idea on the story, but glad we snapped a pic of it. Notice that, "wish this was mine" look on my face....;)
That’s a dandy buck!! Congrats

I never knew those guys as this was just slighty before my time, but have met and sometimes still do hang out with a fair number of folks that did/do know them and spoke pretty highly of them.
Idaho has always been a sleeper state for huge mule deer, though drawing the really good tags is about as hard as getting a sheep tag these days. General hunts there can be pretty damn good too if you get away from the crowds. I know of two really awesome general season bucks that came out of the Palisades area this last year.
I've never met Scenarshooter (Pat Sinclair), but from what I've seen, he falls into the same caliber as the Taylor's did, which is truly rare.................what he's done & shown here speaks for itself & surely puts him in the top 1% on the quality of deer & elk that I've seen from him over the years here.
Area is all important over anything else, but it still takes a great hunter to consistently kill big animals, even in a good area.
Very, very nice deer, Grand & JG.
MM
Yep; it takes good genetics, good nutrition and age to grow really big bucks. Some areas provide that for deer, and others don't---but it also takes knowledge and persistence, as well as a natural ability to be able to read terrain to know where to look and where not to---to consistently kill big critters. A little bit of luck thrown in never hurts...
A big emphasis on the persistence part. Most all of my bigger critters have been killed after days and days of trying, and refusing to give in and hang out at the bar instead.
