My heart was in my throat....hell, it still is!....grin!
Wow! What a fantastic bull.
Congratulations. donsm70
Great bull....Congrats.
Be tough to keep it together at 8 YDS.
A very nice bull! Congratulations and thanks for the pictures.
L.W.
Congratulations - that is quite a trophy!
Jeeezus what a bull!! Good going-my heart's in my throat just looking at the picture!
Wow, that's a monster. Congratulations!
Damn Pat..Congrats! The fronts on that bull are awesome, love the hook.
Zwickey?
Whoa, a bodacious bull!
Love the recurve. What arrow shafts are you using if I may ask?
Casey
Wow. That is impressive. Congratulations!
Damn Pat..Congrats! The fronts on that bull are awesome, love the hook.
Zwickey?
Yep, Black Diamond. Arrow was just barley sticking out the off side.
Shortest front point is 19 1/2", longest is 22". Mainbeams are 55 1/2" on both sides.
Whoa, a bodacious bull!
Love the recurve. What arrow shafts are you using if I may ask?
Casey
I use Easton XX75's, 2317, fletched with turkey feathers. Bow is a Black Widow takedown with 75# limbs.
Very nice bull. Nothing quite like doing it traditional! Congrats.
Pat
Knowing that skill was the biggest factor in taking that animal makes it all the more impressive. Congradualtions!
Got any idea what that beast weighs?
Fred
Arrow went in this side, and broke off when he rolled. He only went 40 yards after the arrow hit him. I didn't see him go down, but heard him crash....things were popping and snapping. I estimate he weighed close to 1000 pounds. Largest bodied elk I've ever seen.
Great job my friend.... Incredible bull for sure ! What a Toad !!
Nice looking country too.
Can't wait to see in person
I thought that looked like a Black Widow. I'm impressed with 75# limbs.
I've been thinking about giving up the Port Orford cedar shafts and using aluminum.
I'll stick with my Black Widow's 56# limbs........
Casey
Bull of a lifetime! Congratulations!
Amazing animal. And very impressive hunting - 8 yards is crazy close.
Shortest front point is 19 1/2", longest is 22". Mainbeams are 55 1/2" on both sides.
WOW, Impressive. Just a great animal. I bet the sound of that arrow smacking home wont soon be forgotten!
What a beauty. Thanks for sharing and congratulations.
Very nice indeed, and even cooler with your choice of equipment.
The animals you put on the ground are amazing. Great bull.
Fantastic bull...and with a Widow recurve! Wow! Congrats...
Congrats, that is a dandy..
You da man Pat - congrats!!!!

Congrats Pat - what a way to start this years hunting season! Really a fantastic bull.
Pat.if you keep at it, one of these years you'll get a big one<snork>
VERY cool beansa helluva bull and done with a 'real' bow!
Congrats!
Scenar-, love a good looking recurve in a picture like that. Again, great bull!
I never was a purist and have finally gone to feathered carbon arrows for my "stick."
Great Bull. Glad you posted the pics thanks.
Pat:
Yessireee! Wow! What a bewtyfool bull. Yessiree! Wow!
Did I say Yessiree, Wow?
Congrats.
KC
A job well done and a trophy well earned. Congrats!!!
It really doesn't get much better than that! Congrats on a well earned Montana bull elk! That's REAL bow-hunting there.
Congrat's Pat, That's awesome!
Unbelievable. WOW! I'd love to hear how the hunt went down.
Patthat is awesome. Magnificent bull. You are my hero! I used to do quite a bit of traditional bowhunting and still have my Stalker recurve by Charlie Bisharat. You're making me wanna dig it out. Archery hunting, especially traditional archery hunting is just sooo different than rifle hunting. The quite thump at the shot instead of the thunderous shot It's just surreal
John
Very cool pat! I'm ill on my archery hunt right now looking for a bull like that.
Holy smokes!
That's awesome,Pat!
Not just the bull but how you got him!
Congrats again!
Holy chit what a bull! Congrats.
Congratulations Pat! Great choice in equipment.
Truly Gonzo!
I'm jealous of a fellow trad bow guy.
Hope you enjoyed the pack out!
Congrats,
Geno
CONGRATULATIONS! That elk is a BEAST!
Pat;
It's good to see you posting again sir - hopefully you and your fine family are well.

Congratulations seems inadequate somehow - what a bull!
All the best to you all Pat.
Dwayne
Heck of a bull, Pat! Congrats!
What a bull!!! Congrats! 8 yards from that beast I bet was quite the experience.
Dam nice bull. You should send some pictures to BW. You probably will end up in some of their advertisements.
Congrats on a hammer of a bull! Awesome equipment as well..
Great looking bull and your hunting was obviously perfect, congrats to the max. I don't know about the retro though Widows have allways been "state of the art" in recurves to me. Timeless perfection. congrats again. Magnum Man
Pat,
Good grief, will you ever slow down? I haven't got the legs or lungs I had just a few years ago. I am older than you, by about 2 years I guess, but it still looks like you are moving as most 20 year olds.
Dang that is a real elk taken in prime conditions, congratulations...
That's a heck of a bull and a heck of a hunt. Well done!
But how do you turn the elevation turret on a recurve?
JEEEZ!! A fella shoots a dink with an arrow and no story to go along with it. NOW our minds are wondering??? Did this bull step in a hole and break his leg, then you stumble up and fling an arrow. Poor critter could have had Dementia and walked in to the backyard to drink out of the hummingbird feeder.
GIVE US THE LOW DOWN DANGIT!
Wow.
You should get that scored, Pat. It might just make Pope and Young.
On a serious note those 2s are unreal. Has he got any teeth left?
Congrat's on a fantastic bow kill. Hell, that would be a fantastic bull with a rifle!! memtb
Wow.
You should get that scored, Pat. It might just make Pope and Young.
On a serious note those 2s are unreal. Has he got any teeth left?
Gross score looks like 380" and change.....I think he'll make P&Y....grin!
We figured he was at least 10 1/2 years old, looking at his teeth, and ivories. We've been cutting him up for the freezer all day...front quarters to go, and we will finish!
Thanks all, for the nice comments! Happy to share my "15 minutes" with all of you!....I'll fill in a few details of the hunt when I get a little spare time.
Dude what a stud, and with a real bow. Kinda like the guy gettin a world record yukon moose with the open sited enfield last year.
What a dream hunt.
Just, amazing! Thanks for sharing.
What they said.^^^^^^
Really Pat, that is a beautiful Bull. I think you had a good day.
Congrats, Pat. Hope the season for your boys goes as well as that hunt did.
Bull is in the deep freeze......!!!350lbs. May have to snag another freezer!

Good to hear from you scenar! Some things never change....WOW!
Pat if I had an elk like that at 8 yards I might just miss it with a shotgun.
A spectacular bull, congrats!
Wow! Thanks for posting. Superb hunting on a terrific bull. You are dialed in from 8 yards to 800!
At a loss for words. So a congrats will have do to.
Other than that in that open country he must have thought you were the hottest thing within miles.
Wow, a monster for sure! Tell us about the recurve and where there any Zwickeys involved? Congrats.
Absolute beast Pat! You definitely deserved that bull. Near or far, you get it done!
Wow....great bull! Congrats man!!!
Josh

Takes a hell of a lot of discipline to score that elk. Congradulations!
I've missed a smaller herd bull at 8 feet, nerves were shot! Good job!!
Great bull! There is nothing like hunting with a stickbow. I enjoy compound, rifle, muzzleloader, or handgun hunting, but Every hunt I make with my recurve is about as good as it gets.
Good job!
Bow is a Black Widow takedown with 75# limbs.
Now, that's a man's bow, and a man's bull, congratulations! Wow.
It's probably a good thing you didn't kill that one when you were 14.
Outstanding all the way around!!!

"Keepsakes" is right! Congrats on a bull of a lifetime!
Now if you just might make some elk chili for next years Icebreaker, I might be willing to drive up there for it!
Good luck hunting with your boys this fall,
Best,
Marty
Wow! CQB with a Toad! Excellent.
Way great job.
I'm always tickled after hearing long range rifle hunters catching hell to see one pop up with a short range arrow poke to really irritate the idiots!!!
