I have my tool set here in the house, ready to go. I was off to a great start researching based on the information provided in the $650 build thread.... now there are hardly any components to order. Everyone is sold out!
There is money to be made in AR rifles right now I guess.
Besides majority of us wouldn’t make it mile from our homes before you/we get shot and killed during the actual apocalypse. If you were going to bug out, time is now..

This apocalypse is about 'bugging in". The reality is most realistic scenarios are. How many people who are reasonable take all their gear with them and still have room for the family and their gear?
I think BSA's suggestion is a good one if you are just looking to put together a carbine and have a lower. I'm sure I'm way down the totem pole on extra parts compared to the armorers on here but I have stocks, gas blocks/tubes, old handguards, muzzle cages, detentes, springs, etc. Heck I only have two AR's at this point as well, probably guys on here with a dozen. Buying stuff and changing it out is part of the attraction.
Should have a trade, buy, sell, thread going on here anyway but now is kind of a bad time.
Delta team tactical. Buy a complete upper for under 300, take it apart, replace what you want to. Your not after a 2k build but it's a start for a working rifle
And I wouldn’t buy cheap parts just because it’s “now”.
You’ve survived this long without one, either buy quality or keep waiting. If you buy trash now you’ll hate yourself later. I’m November Trump will be re-elected and Rona will be gone and the bottom will fall out of the market again.

Actually, I was going to follow along the lines of your recommendations on the $650 thread Bluedreaux. I was going to change a few things as I did some research like the BCM upper, BCM stock etc... maybe even the LaRue trigger. I was going to try and make a quality, and not heavy 16" barreled AR. Now all the parts kits etc are sold out. I may have to wait a couple months to get what I need. No biggie, it gives me some time to learn more about what I might want.

I was able to get everything i need to complete my lower, all of the parts are BCM. I picked up a couple of the BCM stripped uppers (blemished) and an upper parts kit. Will have to do some looking on barrels, BCG etc because what I was looking at was gone!
Thank you. I have been leaning quite a bit on your advice on things. It will be good to get one built and play around with it. My .223 AR currently is an old Bushmaster V-Match. It is pretty accurate but not very modern.
Do you guys normally build a complete rifle each time, or build a few good lowers and spend more money on other uppers that you can switch around, or have as a set?
BCM has BCG's, Griffin Armament has BCG's, Arm or Ally has Toolcraft BCG's, Granite Ridge Outfitters has a good selection of BCG's from various decent sources, Primary Arms has a good selection of BCG's available..................no really fabulous deals, but there are ones to fit a broad budget range from around $120 to however much you want to spend.
All kinds of barrels available................just decide what kind of material, what kind of finish & how much you want to pay.
I usually build a complete gun but have extra uppers too; when I but an upper on an already built lower, depending on whether it has an adjustable GB or not, I will still use the correct buffer & spring that a given upper will need.............those are "extra" parts & I always have a variety around to fit a given setup.
Question on the .223 WYLDE chamber. is that what most of you guys use for a build? Or do you use the 5.56 chamber? The Wylde can shoot both .223 and 5.56 is that correct?

Well, I got all of my parts ordered, and it probably cost a little bit more than I was planning on spending, but I found mostly quality stuff. I had a really hard time finding a good handguard in stock, I ended up going with the STNGR Hawk. Hope it works out well, it had good reviews. I got the Gieselle BCG, Ballistic Advantage Barrel and the BCM Gunfighter Charging handle. Should be a really nice AR when everything comes in.
