No experience with the Nittos, but have you checked out the BFG KO 2's?
Picked up a set for the FJ a couple of months back. So far, I like them,but time will tell this Winter. 275/70/17 on the FJ.
My Taco has the old style KO's in 265/17's. Never had an issue with KO's on any of my trucks for the last 25 years.
