I figure I could whittle at least a half-pound of wood off the one that came with mine by cutting the comb down for irons and removing the left-handed cheekpiece. It's a pretty piece of wood and I'd like to do something with it. My son has a JC Higgins '06 that it would fit with a little goop in the barrel channel. The barrels on these '48s are pretty beefy.
