I'm going to go for more range time, just because it's pretty hard to beat a 7-30 in a handgun. And by "range time" I mean time on the "range where the deer and the antelope play." Get a .17 HMR barrel and shoot the poo out of sage rats, jack rabbits, white rocks and whatever else you have near your home, and capping deer with a 7-30 will seem pretty easy.
