First thing is what does your country look like?

I hunt pretty open country, so I shoot from prone position alot. It helps minimize my profile and allows me to set up for a shot. Alot of times I like to lay by a yucca to help hide my silhouette from the coyotes that may come in.
Keep the wind in your favor....in your face and be able to watch your downwind side if you have a crosswind. Depending upon territory I may favor a crosswind set up.
I've shot lots of coyotes with a simple .223. Depending on what your country looks like will dictate your scope needs and zero distance. I use a 100 yd zero, but have ballistic type reticles for farther shots. Hope this will help.
