I live in a small town of 2000 (in municipal area) in central NSW and one misstep with ones word will haunt the next three generations.
Its a Louisiana/ Deep South thing.....the gene pool is shallow and they tend to yarn ( tell a story...) and are not always careful with the truth..i.e. "no, that really wasn't my cousin you saw me with at the drive-in..."
"least-wise she wasn't my first cousin...."
