Hey guys,

Was looking for some help. I appraised some guns for a friend from an estate and he had two rifles that because of the circumstances, I wasn't sure what to give him for a value.

The first is a pre 64 Winchester model 88 in .308 with a low, four digit serial number starting with a 3. The rifle is in good condition except for the stock. Someone cut the stock and put an hideous, homemade crescent buttplate on it. The rest of the gun is not perfect but not bad. The stock however is useless. How much value will the stock being destroyed take from the gun? The stock is absolutely not repairable. I know pictures help but he is looking for a rough estimate.

The other is a post 64 model 100 in .308. This gun has some bluing wear and I don't know much about the model 100's so told him $400-500 was my guess with the wear.

Again, I know pictures help but I didn't take any. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark
