The first time I took a concealed handgun class was in Louisiana. The instructors were Lake Charles policemen who said that they would watch some of the classes going on and were horrified at what people were being taught. So they started teaching as a side business. We had to bring 150 rounds to the class, and we shot every round. They had us go through several basic drills before we ever got around to the qualifying part. They actually made the classroom and range fun and interesting.

I moved back to Texas before I ever filled out my application in Louisiana and took the class over here. The instructor basically read the lesson plan to us. When we went to shoot, it was just going through what you outlined in your op.
