If you shoot with the stock fully extended, you should be able to use standard rings in extra-high height (approx 1.5inches) with the Redfield 3-9. Definitely not if you will be shooting nose-to-charging-handle.
My favorite magazines so far are the translucent, 20 round Lancer L5 AWM's. For shooting at the bench I like the Magpul 10 rounders.
Add a bunch of 30 round Magpul/PSA(D&H)/ASC/Brownells mags for good measure.
