We don't want to be complacent, but we should take such attacks in prospective given the number of people who die on the roads every day, or those killed by gang violence.
Why? Traffic fatalities bear no meaningful comparisons to either gang violence or murders by islamic terrorism. Death is a given. Violent death perpetrated by crime is set apart. Death due to gangs and terrorism are set apart further. The latter two should not be tolerated by civil society, yet due to political malfeasance, we do. Or are compelled to. We need to keep a talley of how much death is inflicted on us by this corruption so people might know what their complacence buys.
