I was hunting an old overgrown pasture in Hopkins County Texas. At about 7:45 am this buck slipped up in front of me only about 80 yards away. Unfortunately I was looking at the sun rise and had tall weeds in the way with really bright areas and super dark shadows which made a "skillet shot" a little more difficult.
He managed to go about 40 yards after the hit with the 130 grain Hornady interbond hand load. Exit wound in photo. entrance wound at edge of opposite shoulder. Had to shot a little back because of the tall weeds.
Rifle is a reworked '37 model 70 rifle.
