Ok just finished this on a Leupold VX-II Ultralite 2X7. It was extremely tight. I had actually given up on it after trying all of the tricks here. What I didn't understand was the object of wrapping the duct tape was to actually build it out to nearly double the size of the objective bell. I started wrapping it and probably doubled the diameter of the objective bell from ~1.5" to maybe somewhere around 3". I'm guessing but it was near that. Think 32mm to 50mm. That plus a set of leather work gloves and it just gave a little pop and unscrewed. I think the whole secret is to get enough mechanical advantage on it. Think of a dresser knob vs. a door knob. Or a cheater bar on a lug wrench.

This scope is perfect for my Marlin 39A but the parallax always bugged me. That adjustment (50yds) was super easy. I probably would have ended up just buying a dedicated rimfire scope if it had come to sending this one to Leupold.
