1. Given their history, any "new strategy" is likely to be a move much farther left rather than towards the middle. Not gonna help.
2. The pollsters had to carefully select the people they polled to get Trump to that 42% number. Basically a demographic that should ALWAYS oppose Trump or the right. It makes for a very small population left to ask. They're likely asking that same group and ending up at 41% for Joe. It's blowing their minds because there isn't a demographic or control group they can "create" to get that number higher. That group already exists, they're asking it and getting 41%, even with their hands on the scale.
