To build a "typical" 8' modern wall you would use 12 pieces of 2x4x8'... plus drywall, siding, insulation.
To build the wall shown would take 64 pieces of modern 2x4x 8 foot lumber.
If 8/4 it would be 48 as shown.
Good lumber was MUCH MUCH cheaper back then.
