For a bolt-action 22 I would not hesitate to use them with one screw each and a dab of epoxy... getting the extra holes drilled would be the correct way to do it though...
I know I have seen side mounted scopes on that series of rifle. If you look around a bit you would likely have them, buut they would require drilling and tapping the side of the receiver.
