I have looked for the article many times over the years, and still can't find it. It was in Rifle or Handloader over 10 years ago. Anyway, the subject was barrel length on a 35 Whelen. The author started at 28 in I believe and using the same batch of ammo cut and refired all the way to 18 or 20" I can't remember exact numbers but there was maybe 200 fps difference from long to short. I have a 20" 350 Rem Mag and believe it will do all I need to do. I think you should let your preference decide as it won't effect performance either way. I like short tube guns myself.
