I speed dip my traps with no problem.
When it comes to snow and freezing rain, I use those cheap, thin good for nothing sandwich bags like grandma puts cookies in, they work great as far as stopping them from freezing shut and they certainly don't slow them down, it's better than waxed paper, and it's handy; as long as the trap can start off , it can get through some crust. I typicly use #3, and #4 double long spring and double coil spring jump traps for wolf, wolverine and lynx. It's worked for me for a long time; I hope it helps you.
