I was at the local gun shop the other day, and noticed two new M70 Extreme weathers on the rack. One in 30-06, one 270. I handled the 30-06 first. Machining seemed very good, stock felt clubby w/ a 22" barrel, but stiff atleast, 24" would be better. The thing that jumped out at me was that the floorplate basically wouldnt latch. The floorplate would make contact with the stock, before the plunger in the trigger guard could notch the floorplate. The 270 I hanlded was better but the plunger still couldnt fully engage the floorplate.

I told the salesman and he removed the 30-06 from the rack. This was dis-heartening considering the quality of the fwt's Ive handled. The Fwt's seemed to be above that of other rifles in their price range. Guess I'm glad I got one when I did, and hope the quality isnt on the decline already.
