The lumpers and splitters that Exbio mentioned seem to be hard at work with deer. I know very little about the genetics of deer but would not be at all surprised if some revisions occur when the DNA data are examined. I tend to be a lumper because I generally have a hard time determining whether minor visible differences between members of different populations are significant. How different must two populations be to be different?
