The average hunter thinks a 4x Leupold is super-bright, because he looks through it at noon, but a 4x Leupold is actually relatively dim. (This doesn't mean, however, that it isn't a great hunting scope for certain purposes).
I have to concur with JB here as well and going with a VX2 or the new VX3 would be a much wiser choice. Either the HD or German #4 would be best for low light hunting.
