Hour or so ago I decided to take my old 42 year old M70 .30-06 out to the 'back 80' and fire a few rounds of Federal Power Shok 150 GR SP. I like to use the 150 GR rounds for varmint/coyote control, and the cheap $14.00 a box factory Federal loads have alway worked well in this rifle.

Kind of windy out but I put a couple of sandbags on the hood of the truck, set up a 1aser ranged 100 yard target, and fired the below 10-shot group from a cold barrel. I'm sure that in less windy conditions, and from a more solid bench rest the group would have been even better.

The old M70 was manufactured in 1968 and other than installing a synthetic stock (floated the barrel) and a little trigger adjustment it is completely stock. I was even using an old Tasco 3-9X40 scope.

I probably have less than $250 invested in the rifle and scope, and it will put round after round right where they are suppose to go.

Who needs to 'tinker around' with those new high dollar rifles to get MOA accuracy... wink
