Thinkin' they were A Max bullets a buddy favored, if they're the ones that once came with what looked like aluminum tips in the heavier weights? He shot them for years, from his 7mmx300 Weatherby bench rifle. Long pokes at whitetails, mostly.
Or perhaps they were A Max bullets in a larger diameter, that had them funky tips? He owned a bewildering array of thumpers.
Recall some years ago, that he had dozens of boxes of them on the shelf (usual for him), grumbled that they'd quit making that particular bullet. Told him he likely wouldn't live enough to run out of what he had on hand, so STFU. He didn't, passed away a few years ago.
