Obama's title was Senior Lecturer. He was never a tenure track professor.

he was apparently paid, which puts him one step up from adjunct faculty, who are unpaid practitioners who teach a class in law school in their field. lots of lawyers do that, including me at Tulane and Loyola law schools, but I don't call myself a professor.

he never wrote a case note in Law Review, never published anything, and got his job in Chicago for the same reason he got all his other academic "achievements"
