Canadian politicians, like their ilk everywhere, are in it for personal gain and glory. And if you think for one second they give a damn about your average schmuck you are sadly mistaken. While politicians at no time have been saints, their moral compass these days is a lot further off the mark than in years past.
How many politicians to do you know personally?
I know several and most of them are incredibly hard workers who put in ridiculous hours, and serve because it satisfies them. All of the ones I know took big pay cuts and made huge sacrifices to their quality of life to do it.
