First water jug test I ran....the blast took care of a mason plank that I had under the jugs, splitting it length-wise, and breaking 2 redwood boards in the park bench below the plank....wifey was none to thrilled with me over that one!!
What I do now is use 2 2x4's parallel to each other with about a 3" gap between them.....it gives the water an escape route.
