Although I generally prefer a Smith over a Taurus, I have a .41 Magnum Titanium Tracker that is every bit as reliable and accurate as the Smith 357PD Airlite, and is smaller. I only wish I had bought one of the Titanium snubbies when they were available...

As to the cartridge, when velocities are under 1200 fps I like a bigger caliber to make up the difference.

So with the two choices offered I would take the Taurus .44 Special stoked with Speer 200 grain Gold Dot HPs or better some of the Buffalo Bore ammo if the Taurus will handle it... BB has a 200 grain full wadcutter at 1000 fps that should stop anything on two legs....
