You really find the limits of all of those components as well.
Not to mention just how far you should attempt a shot on game with your equipment and skill set in the given atmospheric conditions.
Then again, lots of work and practice at extreme range may "enlarge" your limit; your limit may have been 500 but with experience there and further it becomes a chip shot.
From what I see, past 1500 is the world of the .338's and up!
