Why not have both? Here in Pennsytucky, we have a modern in-line season for doe in Oct, then a primitive flintlock only season in Dec-Jan for either sex. They do allow conicals and peep sights on the flintlocks now.
I am relatively new to ML hunting, but its great. I use my flinter in both season. Usually have some good tracking snow for the late season, but the deer are spooky.
