Ruger M77 w/ "boatpaddle" stock, in .338 Win. Mag. I expected my shoulder to take a whopping, but it clobbered me on the cheekbone and left me with a headache for a couple of days. Thought I was going to end up with a black eye, but didn't. I have since owned one with the factory wood stock, and didn't find it unpleasant at all.
