I have always that Lee Enfield .303 British rifles had terrible recoil, probably from the stock design. I have also talked to owners of jungle carbine 303s and the recoil is not pleasant.
I was going to say an Enfield Jungle carbine in .303 British. That was 16 years ago and I sometimes wake up curled up in the corner of my closet crying thinking about it.
